Tonight's results

Great wins for Middlesbrough and Plymouth with convincing 3-0 victories over Leeds United and Cheltenham respectively.

Middlesbrough were ruthless in the second half at Elland Road with Anfernee Dijksteel, Delano Burgzorg and Josh Coburn scoring in the space of 17 minutes.

Wayne Rooney's Plymouth side advanced after goals from Ben Waine, Ryan Hardie and Mustapha Bundu.

All the action came in the first 10 minutes of Hull's clash with Sheffield Wednesday, but a brace from Charlie McNeill has sent the Owls through to the next round with a 2-1 win.

North and south sections

At this stage the Carabao Cup is still regionalised, so sides will be drawn in northern and southern sections.

This is to make it easier for fans to get to games.

So no need to worry Newcastle and Plymouth fans over the prospect of a 840-mile round trip just yet!

The teams not entering the tournament at the second round

The seven Premier League sides that are not entering the tournament are those who are participating in European competitions this season.

Champions League sides Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa will join the party in the third round.

As will Manchester United and Tottenham who are in the Europa League, and Chelsea in the Europa Conference League.
