Turning the classic air fryer on its head, the Ninja Double Stack XL 9.5L Air Fryer SL400UK has been blowing shoppers away with its excellent cooking power and space-saving design, so I decided to try one out for myself.

I chose the Ninja Double Stack over the classic DualZone design simply because I lacked counter space - I needed something that would slot in next to my other kitchen appliances without protruding too much. And that it certainly did.

While the unit is fairly long, its slim footprint certainly makes up for that, and it slotted easily on my counter under my cupboards.

The Double Stack uses 30 per cent less counter space than the Foodi MAX Dual Zone Air Fryer despite having the same huge 9.5L capacity, and while the side-mounted controls are small, they’re more than big enough to work your way around the unit with absolute ease.

This was my first ever air fryer, and while I’ve not tried every setting yet, I’ve more than got the hang of the Air Fry, Max Crisp and Reheat setting within the two weeks I’ve had it, and I truly can’t wait to try out the Roast, Bake and Dehydrate settings.

The air fryer doesn’t require any heat-up time – instead, it instantly begins to cook your food to ensure it’s done in no time at all and without guzzling power.

This meant that whether I was after a quick fish finger sandwich or cooking up a full roast dinner with all the trimmings, I could do it without waiting hours for the oven.

Because that’s another thing about this clever air fryer: it cooks fast. Like, really fast. In fact, the brand claim that it cooks 55 per cent faster than your standard fan oven, and while I can’t confirm the specifics, I can say that I’ve not turned on my oven in weeks.

Because of the air fryer’s tall design, you utilise height instead of width to cook. Thus, the Double Stack features two independently controlled zones at the rear of the appliance, allowing you to cook with the same or different modes in each section while ensuring even, multi-layered cooking.

To make this work, you’re given two removable stacked tray inserts, which enable you to cook four different foods on four different levels at once.

I usually chuck my meat across two levels in the top drawer and different veggies across two levels in the bottom, and I almost always utilise Sync Cook to ensure my food is cooked and ready to eat at the same time.

This setting intelligently syncs the cooking times in each zone to ensure the food is ready to eat at the same time, perfect if the foods have different cooking times and temperatures but you want to serve them together.

Better yet, the air fryer has been great at helping me cook with far less oil, keeping everything super moist and evenly cooked even when I don’t use a drop.

This is also helped by the non-stick ceramic coated trays, which help to ensure no burnt-on food to wrestle with, while cleanup is as easy as popping them in the dishwasher.

Would I recommend the Ninja Double Stack Air Fryer? I absolutely would – if not for its excellent, time and energy-saving cooking abilities then for it’s sleek and space-saving design.

Truly, it’s a game-changer. I've cooked up fried chicken, crispy broccoli, the most succulent chicken breast and even warmed up a cookie for a decadent dessert. I've even heard you can bake eggs for tasty breakfast meal prep, which I'm super excited to try.

Snap up this air fryer and discover your new favourite, does-it-all kitchen appliance today. Trust me, you won't regret it.
