EXCLUSIVE'What Meghan did to us, she's done to others. Dad has suffered - but I thought she'd stop at the Queen': Duchess of Sussex's half sister Samantha Markle speaks out
Samantha Markle's mother died six weeks ago. They had been estranged for many years. Things had been rocky anyway, but the nail in the coffin of their relationship, Samantha claims, was when her half-sister Meghan got engaged to Prince Harry, and the whole world turned its attention to the Markle family, in all its dysfunction. 'And everyone sucked up to Meghan, even on the fringes of the family,' says Samantha. 'It was like the Emperor's New Clothes. Unfortunately, my mother fell prey to it.' It is sad when families become estranged, and the Markles seem almost to have made an art form of it, the breathtaking capacity to hold a grudge most famously evidenced by the Duchess of Sussex's apparent disowning of huge swathes of her birth family, her (and Samantha's) father Thomas included.

Looking smart in a crisp dinner jacket, the monarch laughed as he entered the Royal Albert Hall - and was met by Sir Elton John. The red carpet was stolen by television presenter Amanda Holden , who was channelling her inner Little Mermaid - not to mention a set of killer abs. She sported in a sea-foam coloured cropped, sequin-studded top with boxy shoulder pads and a skirt with a tulle train that bore a startling resemblance to Ariel's tail. Holden was there with her show co-host, Alan Carr , whose midnight blue dinner jacket and waistcoat was given added sparkle by a lizard brooch.
EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Duchess of Sussex should empathise with Duke of Rutland's son over clothing brand row
EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: The Duchess of Sussex should empathise with the Duke of Rutland's son, Lord Hugo Manners, who's been attacked by the forces of wokery for 'country pillaging' over Joah, his Indian clothing brand. Meghan suffered similar flak in 2018 for the Indian motifs on her wedding dress. My colleague Robert Hardman revealed in his book Queen Of Our Times that US and Indian academics called the dress 'patronising', 'tone-deaf' and 'colonial amnesia at its worst'.

The Prince of Wales, 42, visited The Nelson Trust - a member of the Homewards Newport coalition - to hear about their approach to preventing women's homelessness in the city. Founded in 1985, the charity plays a pivotal role in delivering trauma-informed support for women in Newport. The Nelson Trust will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year. As the future king introduced himself to representatives of the local charity, one woman made a self-deprecating remark about her 'cold hands' to which Prince William kindly replied: 'Don't worry'.

From one royal to another! Queen Camilla is presented with an honorary degree by her sister-in-law Princess Anne in rare joint engagement
Her Majesty, 77, was given an Honorary Doctorate of Literature by the University of London, whose Chancellor is the Princess Royal. The two women arrived at the Senate House building in Bloomsbury, central London, together by car having travelled from St James's Palace for a rare joint engagement. In a sweet moment between the sisters-in-law, Queen Camilla instinctively invited Princess Anne to enter into the room, where they were due to greet fellow recipients of honorary doctorates and their families, before her. Smiling Anne, no doubt with an eye on precedence, demurred and invited the Queen to enter first.
EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Was King Charles too busy to speak to Archbishop Welby when he sought permission to resign last week?
Was King Charles too busy to speak to Archbishop Welby when he sought permission to resign last week? He did call HM but was fobbed off with a flunkey. Apparently, the King was devastated by the Makin Report into John Smyth and was in no mood to converse. And when is the prelate actually leaving? He appears to be in no hurry to hang up his mitre stating in his resignation announcement: 'Exact timings will be decided once a review of necessary obligations has been completed.'
Queen Camilla's nephew chooses festive rap instead of carols for his charity event at St James's Church, writes RICHARD EDEN
RICHARD EDEN: While the Princess of Wales looks forward to her Together At Christmas carol service, Queen Camilla's nephew Sir Ben Elliot has signed up an American hip-hop star for his own festive charity event. I hear Philadelphia-born rapper Eve will be the headline act at the Fayre of St James's Christmas carol concert next week, at St James's Church in Piccadilly. Eve is known for hits including Let Me Blow Ya Mind and lives in London with her husband, former racing driver and Gumball 3000 founder Maximillion Cooper. The fundraiser, which will also feature pop stars Emeli Sande and Jack Savoretti, is in aid of the Quintessentially Foundation and its Firefly Project initiative, which supports young people affected by poverty in London.
EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Prince Harry's US residency may now be hanging by a gossamer thread
Prince Harry's US residency may now be hanging by a gossamer thread. He has been helped by a very friendly Department for Homeland Security vigorously opposing attempts to release his visa application documents. But Trump's appointment of South Dakota governor Kristi Noem to run Homeland Security should concern Harry.

Masked burglars smashed down security barrier and scaled Windsor Castle estate fence 'while Prince William and Princess Kate were asleep at home with their children'
Masked men scaled 6ft fences to sneak onto the Windsor Castle estate as the Prince and Princess of Wales slept nearby. The two men reportedly used a stolen truck to smash through a security gate. They stole farm vehicles and drove off in a pick-up and on a quad bike that they took from a barn at Shaw Farm, sources claimed. Just five minutes away, William and Kate and their children George, 11, Charlotte, nine and Louis, six, are thought to have been asleep. The now-wrecked gate is the nearest exit to Adelaide Cottage and they are often seen using it to come and go.It comes after armed officers were removed from the public entrances to Windsor Castle.

Of course, the most famous marriage to emerge from the world-renowned University of St Andrews was that of Prince William and Kate Middleton. It was 14 years ago this weekend that Wills and Kate officially announced their engagement and now the ancient institution is playing matchmaker to another budding royal love story.
RICHARD EDEN: Mystery as Princess Michael of Kent's intimate private letters with eminent priest are flogged on eBay For £65 each
The thought that someone's been rifling through your private letters would be disagreeable enough. But imagine learning that the same correspondence - all of it concerning your marital status - was being sold on eBay, priced '£65 or best offer' per item. Yet that's the indignity, I can reveal, currently being suffered by Princess Michael of Kent, who, until I alerted her, was blissfully oblivious of what was going on.

Wolf Hall star Damian Lewis jokingly tells Charles 'at least you can claim not to be related' to Henry VIII - even though he is!
The King, 75, was joined by a host of TV and film stars as he hosted a glittering reception to celebrate the centenary of the Film and TV Charity at Buckingham Palace . Charles could be seen getting on particularly well with Lewis, 53, who made the King erupt into laughter. Lewis, who is currently starring as Tudor monarch King Henry VIII in Wolf Hall: The Mirror and The Light, cheekily told him: 'At least you can claim not to be related to him!' But Charles is in fact a distant relative of Henry VIII through George I, a great-grandson of James I, who was a great-great-grandson of Henry VII. Charles III is a ninth-generation descendant of George I.
EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Friends including Queen Camilla's son Tom Parker Bowles pay tribute as Poet Laureate Sir John Betjeman's grandson dies suddenly aged 49
EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: His grandfather, Sir John Betjeman, earned a place in the public's heart unequalled by any other Poet Laureate since Lord Tennyson, while his mother, Candida, dazzled a generation of men in her youth and had become a friend of King Charles by the time she died of cancer in 2014 aged 71. But David Lycett Green, Candida's elder son, made his own mark on all he encountered, including the Queen's son, Tom Parker Bowles, and her nephew, Sir Ben Elliot, who are now coming to terms with his sudden death at the age of just 49. Whereas Candida co-authored a book with the King about the royal garden at Highgrove, Dave - as Lycett Green was known - opted for a less conventional path, summarised by his younger brother John in an online tribute as 'friend of the homeless, proud tramp, kind, generous, brave, courageous, humble, honest'. Dave followed his father, Rupert Lycett Green, to Eton. But unlike Rupert, who invigorated men's fashion with his 1960s shop Blades, Dave favoured 'white gloves shell suit, fresh Nike' (below), sometimes supplementing the effect with a top hat and a cane.
SARAH VINE: Kate's stoic dignity shames the tawdry opportunists and bottom-feeders like Narinder Kaur who cash in on her private pain
One enduring curse of the internet is the unutterable rubbish people say and do on social media in pursuit of clicks, and the sheer number of nasty individuals who seem to make a living out of this. Narinder Kaur is a case in point.

The Princess Royal, 74, who this weekend supported her brother, King Charles , 77, at the Festival of Remembrance in London 's Royal Albert Hall on Saturday, was in the Scottish capital for the HIV Drug Therapy Glasgow Congress. Arriving at the Scottish Event Campus, Exhibition Way, Anne looked her typically polished self - despite her flight being diverted to Glasgow Prestwick Airport due to heavy fog at Glasgow Airport . The Princess Royal is said to have circled Lanark six times for more than 40 minutes as her flight from Cotswold Airport, near Kemble, in Gloucestershire, struggled to land at Glasgow Airport because of the weather. EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Why did the late Queen miss out on a Nobel Peace Prize for transforming and expanding the Commonwealth?
It remains an abiding mystery why the late Queen missed out on a Nobel Peace Prize for transforming and expanding the Commonwealth. A senior courtier sheds some light on the subject, whispering that she didn't want the honour. While candidates don't have to be consulted, Buckingham Palace was approached on more than one occasion by Commonwealth leaders 'for guidance' on nominating Her Majesty. They were politely told, 'Thank you, but no thank you'.

No dowdy duchess here! Sophie's 10 best outfits - as she cultivates a more sophisticated style after her royal promotion
Before her engagement to Prince Edward, Sophie Rhys-Jones embodied the 1990s businesswoman aesthetic and was often seen wearing tailored skirt suits. In her off-duty moments, she favoured skintight mini dresses that may have raised Queen Elizabeth II's eyebrows. However, those daring outfits are firmly in the past, as Sophie has undergone a significant wardrobe transformation. And since taking on the title of Duchess of Edinburgh last March, Sophie's style has reached new heights.
EXCLUSIVEHidden message in Harry and Meghan's video: Impeccably placed sources tell ALISON BOSHOFF it's 'crunch time' for couple after Trump election and 'annus horribilis'
The Remembrance Day poppy on his lapel tells us there is still a part of Prince Harry's heart that is forever England. That his wife, Meghan, wore a matching one, confirms they are still working as a unit, delivering their 'message' to the world. The Sussexes made their first joint appearance in more than three months on Thursday, in a shared video message played at the inaugural Global Ministerial Conference on Violence Against Children in Colombia. Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, both wore dark blazers with poppy pins fastened on their lapels, in a video message about online violence against children - a cause that is deeply important to them. Yet there is a more pressing threat, closer to the Prince's home in California, troubling the Sussexes currently.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their first joint appearance in three months today as they spoke about online violence against children - a cause that is deeply important to them. Both wearing dark blazers with poppy pins fastened on their lapels, the Sussexes called for greater protections for 'the most vulnerable in our world' against the threat of digital violence and harm. Analysing the video, body language expert Judi James told MailOnline: 'The couple's appearance and body language make it look as though they have turned back the clock to the times when they appeared as a royal couple at the Remembrance service in the UK.' Ms James said that it felt like when 'Harry was very much the alpha prince and Meghan was taking her lead from him as she learned the ropes.' She added: 'Meghan looks less assertive here and she appears to be copying and mirroring her husband, taking her cues from him.

Prince William has opened up about having the 'hardest year in my life' following his wife and father's cancer diagnoses. In a remarkably candid - and at times emotional - interview at the end of his official visit to South Africa he admitted the past few months had been 'brutal'. But the prince also said how hugely 'proud' he was of Catherine and the King for handling their health battles with such dignity and bravery. He added that the Princess of Wales was now 'doing well'.
EXCLUSIVERICHARD EDEN: Harry and Meghan's 'desperate' attempts to return after Trump's win revealed - as my insiders tell me the Duke fears deportation
When I disclosed last month that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had bought a home on the coast of Portugal, the reasons behind the purchase remained shrouded in mystery. Why had the couple bought their first European property after being evicted from Windsor's Frogmore Cottage by King Charles early last year? Now, things may have become clearer: Prince Harry and Meghan could have been seeking an escape route if Donald Trump returned to the White House.

When a carefree Queen Mary hit the beach Down Under last week, every woman heard her message loud and clear. The timing was perfect - and it speaks volumes about her marriage, writes AMANDA GOFF
If you are anything like me, writes AMANDA GOFF, you would have pored over the photos of Queen Mary at Balmoral Beach last week, searching for the familiar and oh-so-relatable signs of a scorned wife following Fred's unwise friendship with the Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova. Instead, I noticed something else entirely.
Prince William shows off his rugby skills and is tackled by Springbok legend Joel Stranksy during visit to South African township
Prince William got a taste of the Springboks' legendary physicality today when he joined a charity rugby union event in Cape Town. The future king, still wearing his smart jacket from an earlier event in the South African city, joined children from Ocean View Secondary School taking part in a training session along with a number of South African legends including 'The Beast' Tendai Mtawarira and Joel Stransky. Getting stuck into a drill encouraging kicking, handling and counter attack techniques, Stransky saw the royal going for the ball and couldn't resist grabbing his arm and pulling him away by his jacket. The prince got a consoling pat on the back from another legend, former England player Jason Leonard. Stransky told the Mail afterwards: 'It happened by accident. We were doing the drill and it just happened, instinct took over I guess. It's always instinct when there is a maul around, it has to be! I just thought afterwards 'oh no, I've grabbed a prince'. But he's a lovely guy, very humble. He was so genuine. And I think he enjoyed it, to be honest. I expect in his role he would like to get out there and do more like this. He thanked me for taking part.'

The shocking state of the Duke of York's 30-room Windsor Royal Lodge comes just days after it emerged King Charles had severed his beleaguered younger brother's annual personal allowance, believed to be £1 million. Andrew, 64, who now lives in the £30 million property with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson , signed a 75-year lease with the Crown Estate when he moved in, making a £1million initial payment. The agreement included a notional rent of £260,000 a year.

Meghan and Prince Harry's new Portugal pad 'is first step in couple investing their Netflix millions in property portfolio'
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's new Portuguese property is not a sign of the couple moving back closer to home, but the start of a multimillion pound property portfolio, it has been reported. The Daily Mail revealed last month that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had bought a home near Harry's cousin Princess Eugenie's beachside property on the country's west coast. Harry and Meghan visited Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, at the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club (right), a luxury development of 300 properties by the sea in Melides, south of the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, last year in a seemingly pivotal trip.

EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Is King Charles' medical team concerned amid indications he could be returning to a full programme of overseas tours next year?
I hear there's concern among the King's medical team after an anonymous palace briefing that he will be returning to a full programme of overseas tours in 2025. Having skipped his cancer treatment regime to make the latest tour - and with no one certain how his body has coped - it was planned that he would take time off on his return, allowing him to recover and for doctors to carry out a full assessment of his wellbeing.

Maxine's Gentlemen's Club is a large but somewhat dingy 'erotic lounge' on the main road through Brunswick, a traditionally working-class area of Melbourne that is in the process of being gentrified by the city's burgeoning hipster community. Outside the venue, oddly situated a few doors from the local mosque, a sign advertises weekend 'lunches and dinners' along with a 'male revue' troupe called Toyboys who appear alongside more traditional female hostesses on Saturday nights. Inside, you'll find booths filled with red velvet chairs, a stage adorned with metal poles, plus notices informing patrons of the house's 'lap dance rules', the most printable of which stipulate 'no open mouth contact' and explain that 'touching is permitted in dances over $80 only'.

Theirs is called The Good, The Bad & The Rugby Unleashed, and Tindall took to social media to make comparisons with the former prime minister's Unleashed. In an amusing post, Zara Tindall 's husband first pointed out that they both use the word in the title, and said that Boris's book is written by a 'controversial blond author' while his has a 'controversial blond co-author'. This is thought to be a reference to his fellow former England player Haskell, who hit the headlines last year when he separated from his wife, Chloe Madeley , daughter of television presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan.

LIZ JONES: I've always backed Meghan. But the red dress pictures have led me to a startling realization...and I can no longer support her
I tried, I really did. I'd invested so much in our relationship. Years! Yes, I'd overlooked countless red flags. I'm loyal, after all. She's a woman. Someone I saw as self-made, outspoken, a little broken, put upon, ridiculed and bullied by social and mainstream media. But now? I cannot overlook that red dress. It was Meghan's appearance on the red carpet at the Children's Hospital Gala in Los Angeles this weekend that finally caused the scales to fall from my eyes. Yes, I suddenly found myself cringing with second-hand embarrassment when I saw those pictures. And once you have that feeling, you can't go back.

They finally separated in 1992 after a tumultuous marriage that saw both engage in adultery. One who has never been named was a married politician who was 'famously' charming, according to royal expert Tom Quinn. He revealed in his 2021 book Scandals of the Royal Palaces that the politician, whose identity has never been revealed, was seen late at night in his boxer shorts by a member of Kensington Palace staff. According to a former member of staff, the lover had 'wandered off' without his trousers and then was unable to get back to Diana's room because a door had closed behind him. He was left 'red-faced' as a staff member said good morning to him, Quinn recounted. On other occasions, the lover would allegedly be forced to hide behind curtains or in Diana's en suite bathroom when staff entered her bedroom, because the Princess was 'embarrassed'.
'You've put osteoporosis on the map,' the Queen said. 'Can I just plead with you to keep going?' Camilla's tribute to MoS's Ruth Sunderland as she (and her mum) attend royal reception for bone disease campaigners
Since I was diagnosed with osteoporosis last autumn, my life has taken surprising turns. But I didn't expect it to lead to me - and my Mum - meeting the Queen in the Morning Room at Clarence House. I was invited because of my campaigning in this newspaper to raise awareness of the deadly bone disease, in particular to help people to receive an early diagnosis by making Fracture Liaison Services available throughout the country. At the reception, I was presented with a certificate of appreciation in the presence of Her Majesty. I felt a surge of pride standing by her and when she expressed 'huge thanks' for the work this paper has done. 'It really has put osteoporosis on the map,' she said. 'Can I just plead with you to keep going… it makes an enormous difference to a lot of people who would otherwise go undiagnosed.' By that point, I was buzzing.

Richard Colville (left, and inset, taking Prince Charles to school in 1959) was first employed as press secretary to King George VI and dedicated more than 20 years to royal service. He treated the media 'with a mixture of intolerance, scorn and contempt,' Valentine Low wrote in his book, Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown. He was Queen Elizabeth II's first press secretary after her accession in 1952 and served her until his retirement in 1968. Martin Charteris, the Queen's assistant private secretary, referred to Colville as 'an anti-press secretary,' Robert Lacey told in his 2002 book, Royal: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. During the Queen's tour of Australia in 1954, Colville abrasively dealt with a royal bust-up that the press witnessed. Prince Philip was seen dashing outside as the Queen (seen right on the tour with Philip) angrily shouted after him. Filmmaker Loch Townsend was making a documentary on the trip and recalled how Colville told photographers to turn off their cameras and give him any film taken.

'She seemed pale and more stooped, and she had dark bruising on her hands and wrists, probably from drips or injections.' However, despite her condition, the former PM recalled how sharp her mind remained in that final meeting.
