Check your EuroMillions ticket again! Red faces all round as wrong winning numbers sent out - but a Brit really has scooped the £177million jackpot
Lotto hopefuls are being urged to check their Euromillions tickets again after the wrong winning numbers were sent out.
The news that a £177million jackpot had been struck on Tuesday night saw Brits rushing to check their tickets to see if they were the lucky player who scooped the country's third biggest win.
But an extra number had been added to the National Lottery's winning line up - and was only spotted in the hours that followed.
The incorrect digits were uploaded to news sites around the world - including MailOnline.
The error appears to have been made by the Press Association - who have since sent out a correction.
Last night's National Lottery EuroMillions correct winning numbers are 07, 11, 25, 31, and 40. The Lucky Stars are 09 and 12.
Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser for the lottery operator Allwyn, said: 'Wow, it has been a truly incredible night for a single UK ticket-holder who has scooped tonight's jaw-dropping £177m EuroMillions jackpot.
'The win has landed them a spot on the National Lottery's Rich List, as they have become the third biggest National Lottery winner of all time!

'What a wonderful win right before Christmas, and we cannot wait to pay out this amazing prize.'
If the ticket holder is an individual rather than a group of people, they will instantly be richer than top musicians such as Harry Styles and Adele, who boast fortunes of £175 million and £170 million respectively.
Once the winner claims their loot, they can decide whether to go public with their epic win or request anonymity once the valuable ticket has been paid.
