Tragedy as body of woman in her 80s found in river near Dorset café

The body of an 80-year-old woman has been found in a river near a café in Bournemouth.

Emergency services raced to the scene near the Tuckton Tea Gardens earlier this morning where they discovered the body in the River Stour.

A police cordon is now in place and forensic officers are reportedly combing the area, although the death is not being treated as suspicious.

The Tea Gardens is an idyllic brunch spot that also offers private boat sessions and ferry cruises along the River Stour.

Following the discovery, the café announced that its ferries were cancelled today 'due to circumstances beyond our control'.
