BSE SENSEX & History

The S&P Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index or BSE SENSEX is a free-float market-weighted stock market index of 30 biggest companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange. It is the benchmark index of the BSE and the trading symbol is ^BSESN. BSE SENSEX, published since January 1, 1986, is one of the two main stock indices used in India, the other being the NIFTY 50.
