Canadiens' Arber Xhekaj: Assist, fight in win
Xhekaj recorded an assist, two blocked shots, five PIM and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
Xhekaj was busy in the second period, fighting Mathieu Olivier before helping out on Nick Suzuki's tally shortly after serving his major penalty. The helper was Xhekaj's first point of the campaign. He's added 30 hits, 19 PIM, 12 blocked shots, 13 shots on goal and a minus-3 rating over 15 appearances. The 23-year-old defenseman could have some stability in the lineup if David Savard (upper body) is out beyond missing Saturday's contest.

Canadiens' Lucas Condotta: Scores first goal of season
Condotta scored a goal in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
Condotta's third-period tally gave the Canadiens a little breathing room, stretching their lead to 3-1. It was his first point in five games this season, to go with three shots on net, six hits and three blocked shots. Condotta is competing with Michael Pezzetta for the last spot on the fourth line, and it's a battle the former is currently winning, but it won't lead to much production for fantasy purposes.

Canadiens' Josh Anderson: Finds twine Saturday
Anderson scored a goal and added four hits in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
Anderson scored the final goal of the game, capping off a stretch of three goals in 4:51 for the Canadiens in the third period. The winger has been steady with four points, seven shots on net and 14 hits over his last five contests. For the season, he's up to four goals, five assists, 25 shots, 44 hits, 21 PIM and a minus-3 rating over 18 outings in a middle-six role with minimal power-play time.

Canadiens' Jake Evans: Scores in Saturday's win
Evans scored a goal on three shots in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
Evans had been limited to two assists and three shots on net over his previous eight games. The 28-year-old provided an insurance tally in the third period as the Canadiens ran away with the win. Evans is up to three goals, eight points, 18 shots on net, 23 hits, 12 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating over 18 outings this season. He's currently in a second-line role, but that could change if Kirby Dach is moved out of a first-line wing spot.

Canadiens' Nick Suzuki: Deposits game-winner
Suzuki scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
Suzuki's goal at 15:49 of the second period gave the Canadiens the lead for good in this contest. The center opened November with no points over four games, but he has three goals and two assists over his last three outings. For the season, he's at seven goals, 11 assists, 39 shots on net, 20 hits, 16 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating over 18 games. Suzuki is among the most reliable players in Montreal's lineup, offering decent category coverage and strong offense.

Canadiens' Joel Armia: Collects two assists in win
Armia notched two assists while adding two hits, two PIM, one blocked shot and a plus-1 rating in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
The veteran winger has produced two points in four separate games this season, but those are the only times he's gotten onto the scoresheet over 18 contests. Armia's bottom-six role doesn't afford him many opportunities to make a fantasy contribution, and his minus-9 rating has him on pace for the worst performance of his career in that category.

Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Two helpers against Jackets
Caufield picked up two assists, one on the power play, in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
It's the second time in three games that Caufield has produced multiple points, although those are his only points so far in November through seven contests. The 23-year-old has only three helpers in 18 appearances this season, but his 12 goals put him on pace to shatter the career-high 28 he pocketed in 2023-24.

Canadiens' Mike Matheson: Two-point effort Saturday
Matheson scored his first goal of the season on the power play and added an even-strength assist in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
The veteran blueliner opened the scoring early in the first period by blasting a one-timer past Daniil Tarasov from the high slot, then helped set up Josh Anderson for the game's final tally late in the third. It's Matheson's first multi-point performance since Oct. 26, and on the season he's accumulated 12 points in 18 contests with 47 blocked shots -- fourth in the NHL behind Chris Tanev, Rasmus Andersson and Brandon Carlo.

Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: Sharp in fifth win
Montembeault made 25 saves in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
Montreal took control in the third period, but Montembeault came up with some big stops early while the game still hung in the balance. The 28-year-old netminder has given up just three goals on 57 shots over his last three appearances, but on the season he's 5-8-1 with a 3.09 GAA and .898 save percentage while working behind a shaky Habs blue line.

Canadiens' David Savard: Won't play Saturday
Savard is a late scratch for Saturday's game against Columbus because of an upper-body injury, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Savard has four assists, 17 hits and 45 blocks in 17 appearances with the Canadiens in 2024-25. Jayden Struble, who would have otherwise been a healthy scratch Saturday, is expected to play due to Savard's absence.

Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: Between pipes Saturday
Montembeault will patrol the home crease versus Columbus on Saturday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Montembeault has faltered this season compared to his 2023-24 performance. The 28-year-old is 4-8-1 with a 3.29 GAA and a .893 save percentage through 13 appearances this campaign. Columbus has registered 3.25 goals per game.

Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: No support in loss
Montembeault stopped 25 of 27 shots in Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Wild.
Montembeault played well but a barely existent offense offered little support for the goalie. Montreal had just two first-period shots on net and finished with 19. Montembeault dropped to 4-8-1 with a 3.29 goals-against average and .893 save percentage, which normally might cost a No. 1 goalie his job but not in Montreal. Backup Cayden Primeau (4.68 GAA, .845 save percentage) is not a reliable option at this point. Montembeault will likely guard the net Saturday, when the Canadiens return home to face the Blue Jackets.

Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: Set to start Thursday
Montembeault is slated to start Thursday's road game against Minnesota.
Montembeault entered Monday's game against Buffalo in the third period and snapped a losing skid by saving all four shots he saw en route to the win. Prior to that, he had posted an 0-4-1 record, 4.20 GAA and .851 save percentage over his last five outings. He'll have his hands full against the Wild, who rank seventh in the league with an average of 3.53 goals per game.

Canadiens' Mike Matheson: Adds power-play helper
Matheson logged a power-play assist and three blocked shots in Monday's 7-5 win over the Sabres.
Matheson snapped a five-game slump by helping out on Cole Caufield's game-winning tally in the third period. The 30-year-old Matheson was hot before that dry spell, so he should be able to get his offense back on track. The blueliner is looking for his first goal of the year, but he has 10 assists (six on the power play), 24 shots on net, 27 PIM, 45 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating over 16 appearances in a top-pairing role.

Canadiens' Lane Hutson: Dishes pair of assists
Hutson logged two assists in Monday's 7-5 win over the Sabres.
Hutson's first helper set up a Cole Caufield power-play goal in the second period, and he also fed Emil Heineman for a game-tying goal in the third. With three helpers over his last two games, Hutson is getting back on track on offense, though the 20-year-old blueliner will likely have ups and downs as a rookie. He has 10 assists (four on the power play), 12 shots on net, 12 hits, 25 blocked shots and a minus-7 rating across 16 appearances this season.
