Earlier this week, the cast of Jon M. Chu’s Wicked stepped out at its New York premiere.
Of course, the Nov. 14 event was filled with photographers snapping pictures of the actors on the red carpet. And in one clip that has picked up steam online, Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, can be seen helping Jonathan Bailey, who plays Fiyero, as he struggles to stand still.
In the video, Cynthia can be seen linking arms with Jonathan while their fellow costars, Ariana Grande and Jeff Goldblum, also pose beside them.
As numerous photographers shout instructions at the cast, Cynthia can be seen pointing at the cameras in front of herself and Jonathan while seemingly telling him where to look.
Meanwhile, Jonathan can be heard saying, “I find it so hard to stand still,” as Cynthia remains close beside him. You can watch the clip for yourself here.
The video, which has been viewed more than 34,000 times on X (formerly Twitter), comes just under a year after Jonathan revealed that he has ADHD.
If you didn't know, ADHD stands for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Per the ADAA, it is a "condition characterized by an ongoing pattern of inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, issues with executive functioning, or a combination," and it's estimated that roughly 8 million adults in the US have it.
During the LA screening of Maestro in December 2023, Jonathan was filmed telling red carpet photographers that he struggles to stand still and pose due to the disorder.
Bringing this into view now, one X user wrote, “cynthia trying to help jonny and jonny saying ‘i find it so hard to stand still’ actually makes me wanna sob after hearing him tell photographers he has adhd and can’t stand still and then them proceeding to continue yelling at him to stand still, without fail, every time.”
Someone else replied, “It would've made me even more anxious... Idk how he does it but I'm honestly so proud of him. and these photographers need to just do their job and stop yelling at him.”
