Kevin Slane is a staff writer covering entertainment and culture for Boston.com, a role he has held since 2014.

Kevin has spent 10 years covering the biggest cultural events in Boston, including museum openings, movie premieres, and every single Boston Calling since the music festival’s 2013 debut. He has interviewed numerous celebrities, including members of Aerosmith, stars of “The Office,” and too many Wahlbergs to count.

Along with breaking news and reported features, Kevin writes regular movie and TV reviews, including a weekly watch guide helping readers decide what to stream on Netflix, Hulu, and other top streaming services. Since 2015, he has authored the BosTen column, a weekly roundup of the 10 best events and things to do in the Boston area each weekend.

Kevin also films regular appearances on “Boston Globe Today,” a weekday news program on NESN that provides perspective on the biggest news stories in Boston.


Education

Kevin graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he majored in journalism and political science. While there he served as an editor and columnist for The Daily Cardinal, the sixth-oldest independent daily student newspaper in the nation.


Awards

Kevin's reporting has won numerous awards from the New England Newspaper & Press Association, which cited his expertise on topics such as the local film production industry and the recent rise in immersive art exhibits. Kevin was also honored multiple times by the Milwaukee Press Club for his feature writing and his film criticism.

Kevin is a Rotten Tomatoes certified critic, writing reviews that impact the site’s highly influential Tomatometer.
