One of the first magical LGBTQ moments was actually before I released my first single. I was performing at Harlem Pride. It was my first major performance where I performed the my trans anthem “I Am Her.”
I was nervous throughout the performance but after I got off the stage someone walked up to me with tears in their eyes and said thank you so much for writing the song that tells my whole story. It was in that moment I understood Pride as trans singer/songwriter. I became a vessel to remind the community that we are not alone and when united we can do anything.
Thank you for guiding me, thank you for protecting me and thank you for allowing me to fight with you as we ensure the equal rights and protections for every LGBTQ person worldwide. Always remember that I’m grateful for everything you’ve done and continue to do.
