Chinmayi Sharma is a nonresident fellow with the Cyber Statecraft Initiative, part of the Atlantic Council Tech Programs, and an associate professor at Fordham Law School. Her research and teaching focus on internet governance, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, open source, interoperability, computer crime, and torts. Sharma is a cybersecurity and technology fellow with the University of Texas at Austin’s Strauss Center. She is part of an external tech engagement program hosted by the Center for Democracy and Technology.

Before joining academia, Sharma worked at Harris, Wiltshire & Grannis LLP, a telecommunications law firm in Washington, DC. She also previously clerked for Chief Judge Michael F. Urbanski of the Western District of Virginia and co-founded a software development company.

Sharma’s scholarship has been included in the Hague’s International Cyber Security Bibliography. She has written extensively for Lawfare and has contributed to Tech Policy Press and Just Security. She has been quoted by NPR, ProPublica, the New York Times, and Schneier on Security.
