In the history of the NFL, Alabama alumni have been on the receiving end of five touchdown passes that have covered at least 89 yards. Jerry Jeudy has two of them.

During the Cleveland Browns’ game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Jeudy caught an 89-yard touchdown pass from former Hueytown High School star Jameis Winston with 1:52 left in the first quarter at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

On Jan. 3, 2021, Jeudy scored on a 92-yard pass from quarterback Drew Lock in the Denver Broncos’ 32-31 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

That’s tied for the longest NFL touchdown reception by a former Alabama player.

On Oct. 8, 1939, Pro Football Hall of Famer Don Hutson had a 92-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Arnie Herber in the Green Bay Packers’ 27-20 victory over the Chicago Cardinals.

On Nov. 18, 1962, Tommy Brooker caught a 92-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Len Dawson in the Dallas Texans’ 24-3 victory over the Denver Broncos. Brooker was primarily a kicker during five AFL seasons with the Dallas Texans/Kansas City Chiefs franchise. He caught six passes in his pro career, with 92 of his 170 career receiving yards coming on one play.

The other touchdown reception of at least 89 yards by a former Alabama player occurred on Nov. 22, 2018, when Amari Cooper scored on a 90-yard pass from Dak Prescott in the Dallas Cowboys’ 31-23 victory over the Washington Redskins.

Before Sunday, Jeudy’s longest reception this season had gained 35 yards.

The Winston-to-Jeudy play was the sixth touchdown pass of at least 89 yards in Cleveland Browns history.
