Finebaum reacts to LSU’s Brian Kelly dressing down player, getting yelled out by another

Things are reeling in Baton Rouge.

LSU’s 27-16 loss at unranked Florida was the Tigers’ third straight loss, and there was clear signs Saturday of frustration.

LSU coach Brian Kelly was caught on camera screaming at one player and getting yelled at by another.

“After seeing the video, I seriously regret not taking a lip-reading course in college,” Paul Finebaum told AL.com on Sunday. “I don’t know what he actually said, but it wasn’t PG. That combined with the vid of the player cracking back is a very bad look.”

Kelly looked to get into the face of receiver Chris Hilton after a play in the first half. Late in the third quarter, cameras caught receiver Kyren Lacy yelling at Kelly on the sideline after an unsuccessful possession.

LSU lost to Florida for the first time since 2018.

“It’s bad,” Finebaum said during his weekly appearance on The Matt Barrie Show. “LSU fans, they have no basement. They just got from (potentially) beating Alabama a week ago and getting to the SEC Championship Game and the playoffs to now the season is over.”

Finebaum suggested next week’s mood at home against Vanderbilt will be “comatose.”

Kelly’s streak of 10-win seasons will end at seven. Kelly won double-digit games in each of his last four years at Notre Dame and extended it with consecutive 10-win seasons in Baton Rouge.

But losing three in a row to Texas A&M, Alabama and Florida make it impossible to get past nine.

“Their record is better than they are,” Finebaum said.
