collection comprised seventy-nine creations
presented in three sections: “In the Eye of the
Sun,” “Summer Fires,” and “Gallant Parties.” In his
notes, Ferré stated, “The morning sun rises from
amidst trembling foliage, like a premonition of
silhouette.” Evoking imagery of being exposed to
the sun’s intensity, he continued “At the hour
when dawn grows, long and slender silhouettes
appear in an almost diaphanous whiteness.”
Ferré’s Hélios ensemble is named after the Greek
sun god, who rises from the ocean every morning
and sets in a blaze of color each evening.
