    Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

Hand-stamped labels. Hand-sewn Heard and Felt fabric tag on hand-cut felt sleeve insert with hand-sprayed pyramid stencil design. This description is even hand-typed!

Limited edition of 32 copies, each one lovingly cut in the New Zealand countryside by legendary lathe cutter Peter King, whose credits include the Beastie Boys and many others. See Peter cutting records here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG3u0Sh9PL4. Note that lathe cut records are a lo-fi format that differs from vinyl records. They are 'cut' in real time rather than being 'pressed' with a metal stamper. They have shallower grooves so you need a good stylus and may need to adjust the tonearm weight (heavier at the needle end) and reduce anti-skating on your turntable.

about

Jimpster '5/5. Wow! This is a gem! Really like the sound of all four tracks but will definitely be playing Xenomorph and Rolling Devastation out.'

Thanks to Les Yeux Orange, Moskalus and Seek Sick Sound for the premieres! Plus support from Lobster Theremin, Roska, Crazy P, Philip Sherburne (Pitchfork), Island Beats, Groovement, Nicolas Masseyeff, EPM, Lay-Far, Timo Deeprhythms, etc.

Since swapping his guitar for a growing collection of synths and drum machines, Melbourne producer Wu Kush has been steadily building his reputation and repertoire in all realms of techno and electronic music. Under his aliases and collaborative projects JXTPS, Juxtpose, Sjazd and JDJX he has had releases on Suara, Planet Rhythm, Momentary and more, joining alumni such as Prins Thomas, James Welsh, Harvey Sutherland, Kirk Degiorgio, Matrixxman, Booka Shade, Vince Watson, DJ Hell and Catz n Dogz.

He saves his funkiest grooves for Heard and Felt, now using the Wu Kush moniker for this side of his sound where he leans towards house, Detroit techno, electro funk and broken rhythms. Title track 'Xenomorph' drops big techno chords over layers of afro percussion and chants. 'Rolling Devastation' funks the bass synth and beats for four minutes, with echoes of a house legend coming along to jack to the groove. The fourth track is 'Third' which could be what a Martyn remix of Kraftwerk might sound like.

An extra special treat comes in the form of a killer remix from London duo Modified Man (AKA Scrimshire and Deoke), following previous remixes of Wu Kush and Juxtpose from Opolopo, Christian Vance and Heard and Felt label boss Ennio Styles. The Modified Man remix keeps the essential percussion and chords from 'Xenomorph' yet totally reshapes the groove with a mellow broken beat and warm synths, then adding a surprise house twist late in the piece. This rework adds nicely to Modified Man's remixography which includes versions of Amp Fiddler, Dele Sosimi, Hector Plimmer, Ola Szmidt and Makadem & Behr.

An ultra limited pressing of 32 lathe cut hand-stamped clear 10”s will each include a hand-sprayed felt sleeve insert (each a different colour) featuring the stencilled pyramid design. The records were cut by legendary New Zealand lathe cutter Peter King (whose credits include the Beastie Boys and many others).

The launch party for the Xenomorph EP happens Sunday 5 August at Dr Morse with Wu Kush joined by Ben Houghton (Momentary Recordings), Emelyne (The Blend PBS) and Ennio Styles (Heard and Felt/3RRR/Worldwide FM).
