Wretla's FKA Cassettes For Kids newest single “My Love” is that summer diamond in the rough, dug up at just the right time.

Written back in 2022, at a time when the Melbourne/Naarm producer (now based in Berlin) was channelling memories of dancing soaked in mist under tarps, “My Love” is an attempt to bottle the feelings of joy we feel when partying with close pals. Using drum machines and hardware synths, Wretla whips up a punchy summer atmosphere underscored by a beautifully dreamy vocal sequence. There’s also an unmistakable bounce and levity that is very easy to latch on to.

“My love is like a summer breeze, blowing through the jasmine in my mind…”

As he says, “I’d finished all the melodies but was just missing that extra bit of spice, that’s when I found this vocal that perfectly summed it all up”.

Where composing before “My Love” was more about describing a moment, this record was born from a yearning to create a song for a moment.

Here’s hoping it aligns with a sun-soaked experience of yours in the not-too-distant future.
