2024 was a year of growth and innovation for AppSheet. We launched new features and products that helped our customers create powerful and transformative apps. Here are three innovations that enabled both business users and IT professionals to build apps and automate processes without writing a single line of code.

1. Gemini in AppSheet: Simplifying AI adoption for businesses of all sizes

The lack of coding experience among non-technical users often limits their ability to create custom apps that address their specific business needs. To address this challenge, AppSheet introduced AI-assisted app creation and announced AI-powered apps, helping both technical and non-technical users build powerful applications without the need for extensive coding.

Gemini in AppSheet can help people who have a great app solution in mind for a business problem, but they don’t know where to start building. Gemini helps make app creation more accessible for non-technical users and makes it easier to accelerate AI adoption, all using natural language.

During Google Cloud Next' 24, we showcased how Gemini can help power features in apps created with AppSheet. This accelerates the practical use of AI by putting AI right into your organization’s apps and workflows. Whether you're seeking to automate repetitive tasks, gain deeper insights from your data, or enhance user experiences, Gemini-powered features in AppSheet apps opens up a world of possibilities for infusing your apps with the power of Google’s AI.

2. Deepening integration with Google Workspace

We're continuing to deepen our integration with Google Workspace to help you do more with your data. This includes building apps you can use directly within Google Chat, bringing automation and data interaction right into your conversations. You can also use smart chips in Google Docs to view, edit, and action AppSheet data without leaving your document. AppSheet also has native integrations with Google Sheets, Gmail, and Google Calendar, further extending its capabilities across the Google Workspace suite.

This year we announced Google Forms integration with AppSheet. This means you can seamlessly connect your Forms data to powerful AppSheet applications. Imagine automatically kicking off an approval process from a request submitted through Forms, or using form responses to power an AppSheet app.

3. Enhancing governance, security, and compliance to protect your business data

In today's data-driven world, IT leaders face the constant challenge of balancing innovation with robust security and regulatory compliance.

AppSheet provides a low-code platform with powerful governance and security features built-in. Imagine a centralized control center where you can oversee all applications, define granular access permissions, and prevent data leaks with integrated data loss prevention solutions. With AppSheet’s latest improvements to the Admin Console, we empower IT to enforce policies, track app usage with detailed audit trails, and ensure compliance with industry regulations like GDPR and CCPA. This minimizes the risk of shadow IT and costly data breaches and frees up valuable IT resources from tedious manual oversight. With AppSheet, organizations can confidently empower citizen developers to build and deploy applications while maintaining a secure and compliant environment. Watch the highlights of these features from our announcements made at Next’ 24.

Our goal is to consistently deliver innovative experiences that empower businesses to thrive in the ever-changing landscape of work.
