Step 1: Complete initial requirements
Go to https://studentaid.gov/ and:
- Complete Entrance Counseling
- Complete Loan Agreement for a Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan (Master Promissory Note). This is good for 10 years
Both must be completed before Walsh will process your loan request
Step 2: Register for classes
The Financial Aid Office will not process your loan request until you are registered at least half-time for classes. Half-time is defined for undergraduate students as 6 undergraduate credit hours & graduate students as 3 graduate credits hours.
Step 3: Complete the Financial Aid Self-Service
To receive a Direct Loan please:
- Log into the Walsh Student Portal
- Under the WebAdvisor section, click on Self-Service for Students
- Select Financial Aid from the menu
- Complete the Review and accept your Financial Aid Award Package available in the homepage checklist of your student self-service page.
To avoid delays, make sure you have completed Step 1. You must be registered for classes before accepting, declining or reducing loans in financial aid self-service. Loan requests from self-service must be received by the financial aid office a minimum of 10 business days prior to the first tuition due date in order to avoid a late fee by the Office of Finance and Accounting.
Step 4: Loan disbursement
If you have successfully completed steps 1 – 3, loan funds are scheduled to disburse (apply) to your student account two weeks after the semester begins. You must be enrolled at least half-time at the time of disbursement to receive your loan. Student refund checks from excess funds (if any) are direct deposited or mailed within 14 days of disbursement by the Office of Finance and Accounting.
Student may sign up for direct deposit at www.walshcollege.edu/admissions-information/financial-aid/direct-deposit-refunds.
Step 5: All done
Please allow for adequate processing time of your loan request, generally 10 business days. For bill due dates and late fee assessment, please visit www.walshcollege.edu/important-dates.
