VIRESA, FPT Online, and Funtap Sign MoU to Advance Vietnam's Esports Development On December 10, 2024, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sports Association (VIRESA), FPT Online Services Corporation (FPT Online), and Funtap Joint Stock Company (Funtap) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster sustainable growth and professionalization of esports in Vietnam, with a particular focus on games such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB). Under the agreement, the three parties committed to long-term and regular collaboration in strategic consultancy, community building, and promoting the development of Vietnam's recreational and competitive esports scene. The goal is to encourage systematic and holistic progress for the domestic esports industry The partnership also extends to seeking and collaborating with reputable game developers and esports organizations to bring international esports games to Vietnam. The focus will be on fostering joint projects and promoting business development activities, including workshops, tournaments, sponsorships, and creating operational platforms for esports. The agreement also involves pooling resources to expand esports arenas and competition platforms in Vietnam. Specific to Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, the three parties aim to provide optimal conditions for national teams during training and competition at regional and international tournaments such as the SEA Games, ASIAD, and Asian Esports Games (AEG).

On December 13, 2024, the 3rd Annual M Summit was held on the sidelines of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (M6) World Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event brought together regulatory bodies, national esports federations, leaders, and prominent figures in multinational esports to discuss ways to foster collaboration and develop a sustainable esports ecosystem. The M6 Summit featured discussions on global growth, commercialization, and the development of esports, particularly for women. It also included announcements regarding MOONTON Games' plans and the potential of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) in the Southeast Asian market. Notably, MLBB was officially announced as a medal event at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33), which will take place in 2025 in Thailand, featuring both men’s and women’s team competitions. Previously, at SEA Games 32, the Vietnamese women’s national team excelled, securing a bronze medal in the women’s team MLBB event.

A New Era for Vietnamese Esports at Techday 2024 🔥 On November 13, 2024, a discussion on Vietnamese esports, themed "A New Era - Vietnamese Esports," took place as part of FPT Techday 2024, organized by FPT Corporation in Ho Chi Minh City. The event aimed to explore strategies for the direction and development of esports in Vietnam, against a backdrop of rapid industry growth as gaming nears the billion-dollar revenue milestone. A multi-faceted esports ecosystem is forming, signaling a promising new era for the country's electronic sports. Mr. Hoang Viet Anh, Chairman of FPT Telecom and Vice President of the Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sports Association (VIRESA), highlighted esports as a significant trend, a wave, and a vast opportunity for Vietnam. Working alongside VIRESA and other industry partners, FPT, with a focus on FPT Play television, has made substantial investments to modernize and upgrade international connections, bandwidth, and connectivity experiences. Mr. Do Viet Hung - Hung Do Viet, President of the Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sports Association (VIRESA), is set to join a panel discussion on "The Need for Esports Education in Developing Countries." Through this platform, the VIRESA President will emphasize the significance of incorporating esports education into the strategic visions of emerging nations. With the theme “A Day to Conquer Your Dream,” Flazers Day 2024 provides a platform for students nationwide to connect and engage with electronic sports from a modern, positive perspective. Additionally, Flazers Day 2024 serves as a series of networking and knowledge - sharing events with partners, aiming to support students in shaping their career paths within the electronic sports industry. The event offers not only exciting entertainment activities, top-tier cosplay performances, and meet-and-greet sessions with professional esports athletes, but also workshops featuring high-caliber guest experts who share knowledge, experiences, and insights into electronic sports and career development for students’ future endeavors.

The 4th ECEA Esports Championship East Asia is took place in Chengdu, featuring the participation of representative from China, Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong - China. This event is a key brand project under the framework of the China-Japan-Korea Cultural Industry Forum, with strong support and business guidance from the industry development department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of The People's Republic of China. At the same time, the "2024 Esports and Cultural Tourism Development Conference" was jointly hosted in Chengdu, inviting Japan, Korea, countries in Southeast Asia, and countries in the Middle East to jointly promote the co-development of the esports industry.

ESPORTS OFFICIALLY INCLUDED IN THE SEA GAMES 33 On October 25, 2024, at the second council meeting for the 33rd SEA Games 2025 held in Thailand, representatives from Southeast Asian nations gathered to discuss several key issues. Notably, the number and scope of competing sports were officially announced, with esports confirmed as one of the 50 medal events, expected to feature 06 categories. This marks the fourth consecutive time esports will be included as a medal sport in the SEA Games. With specific plans and strong determination, the fourth term will be a pivotal phase marking a significant development for VIRESA.
