The CBS comedy pilot “DMV” is adding three new cast members.
Variety has learned that Alex Tarrant, Tony Cavalero, and Gigi Zumbado have all joined the single-cam pilot in series regular roles. They will appear alongside previously announced cast members Tim Meadows, Harriet Dyer, and Molly Kearney.
“DMV” was ordered to pilot at CBS back in August. It is based on a short story by Katherine Heiny. The official logline states that the show is “set at the place everyone dreads going most: the DMV. Our quirky and lovable characters are making minimum wage, doing a thankless job where customers are annoyed before they even walk in the door. Good thing they have each other.”
Tarrant will pay Noa, described as a “dreamy, charismatic, golden boy. Noa seems destined for much greater things than working at the DMV. He is good at everything and never gets into awkward situations. A star surfer, he lives the ‘Pura Vida’ life and doesn’t sweat the small stuff.”

The role would mark a return to CBS for Tarrant, who previously starred in “NCIS: Hawai’i” at the broadcaster. He most recently appeared in “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” at Amazon in the role of Valandil. His other TV credits include “Vegas,” “Shortland Street,” and “800 Words.”
He is repped by Gersh and Omni Artists.
Alex Tarrant is set for the series regular role of “Noa”, Tony Cavalero is set for the series regular role of “Vic” and Gigi Zumbago is set for the series regular role of “Jocelyn.”
Cavalero will play Vic. “Before landing at the DMV, Vic worked as a bouncer, security guard, head cook and has found his true calling as a driving examiner,” per the character description. “While Colette (Dyer) takes the nervous drivers, he takes the entitled ones who deserve to be taken down a notch. A lovable scumbag and odd-ball, Vic has no edit, doesn’t think about consequences, and has a wildly inflated sense of himself.”
Cavalero is perhaps best known for his role in the HBO comedy series “The Righteous Gemstones.” He has also appeared on shows like “The Conners” and “Miracle Workers” and led Nickelodeon’s “School of Rock” series. He has appeared in films like “The Dirt” at Netflix, in which he played Ozzy Osbourne.
He is repped by Gersh, Nicole Garcia Management, and Lichter Grossman.
Zumbado will play Ceci, described as “scrappy, tough, and sassy, counter representative Ceci has no time for anyone’s nonsense. She’s impatient, critical, and thinks she can do everyone’s job better than they can.”
Zumbado’s recent TV credits include “Doctor Odyssey,” “The Rookie,” “The Rookie: Feds,” “Bridge and Tunnel,” and Fox’s “Fantasy Island.” Her upcoming projects include the Spyglass feature “Heart Eyes” and the action comedy “Bride Hard.”
She is repped by Innovative Artists, Industry Entertainment, and Del Shaw Moonves
“DMV” hails from writer and executive producer Dana Klein, with Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling, and Robyn Meisinger also executive producing. Trent O’Donnell will direct and executive produce the pilot. CBS Studios will produce.
