🇺🇿 New phase of project #OneMillionUzbekCoders was started #Uzbekistan is #1 globally with the #highest percent of their labor force active on #Coursera at 6.25% The One Million Uzbek Coders initiative, launched in 2019, offers free online courses in programming and IT to empower Uzbekistan’s youth with essential #digitalskills, supporting the country’s #digitaltransformation and global IT ambitions. New phase of the project was officially launched at INHA University in Tashkent. The event began with a keynote speech by Minister Sherzod Shermatov emphasizing the program’s importance for the country’s digital transformation. During the event, Raghav Gupta, Managing Director for India and the Asia-Pacific region at Coursera Inc., gave a presentation on #opportunities through the Coursera platform, while Deputy Minister Rustam Karimjonov introduced the project’s two-year plan. Participants who successfully complete the courses will receive certificates. So far, the Coursera platform has 1.4 million users from Uzbekistan, with 50% being women and 90% comprising students and pupils. In 2024, participation in Coursera’s professional IT certificate courses #increased by 206%. By 2025-2026, the project aims to help over 1 million individuals obtain international IT certifications and 30,000 individuals acquire professional IT certifications. Moreover, 2 best schools with the best performance will get new electric car. As part of the initiative, 700 #laptops will be awarded to #topstudents, 10 outstanding teachers will receive #internationaltrips, 100 teachers will get #10million UZS each, and the top three universities will earn monetary prizes. This should motivate everyone to focus on quality, result-driven #education. Being ranked #1 globally is an incredible achievement, but it also highlights the vast opportunity to further enhance mass upskilling on the Coursera platform. New Steps in #developing #collaboration in #ITEducation Today, the number of IT companies in Uzbekistan is growing rapidly. The country’s IT exports now cover 78 countries, #increasing the demand for #ITspecialists. In order to continue advancing in this field, a delegation from the Ministry of ICT, led by Rustam Karimjonov, is seeking #opportunities for international collaboration in the education sector. Recently, an important meeting was held with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). During the meeting, held online, Deputy Minister R. Karimjonov and the KAIST leadership discussed the following key topics: 📌 #Establishing the "Uz-AIST" educational campus in Uzbekistan; 📌 Conducting a technical and economic feasibility study for establishing a higher education and research institute in Uzbekistan based on KAIST’s educational model and system. At the end of the meeting, a #Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the parties, laying the foundation for long-term #cooperation in IT education.
