Initiatives
SingleCare
The card is free of charge – there are no age restrictions, income restrictions or limit on how many times a single card may be used.
Older Adults Advocacy Task Force
Services include hot meals at senior centers as well as home-delivered meals; in-home support for bathing, dressing, and other daily activities; day care, in-home respite, and support for family caregivers; fitness and socialization, and more.
Age-Friendly Community
In collaboration with the Miami-Dade County Office of the Mayor, the Health Foundation of South Florida, and the Alliance for Aging, we authored the Age- Friendly Action Plan for Miami-Dade County, facilitated the adoption of age-friendly county policies, and encouraged municipalities to join the age-friendly movement.

Henderson Baby Closet: Henderson’s Baby Closet helps low-income families, and those experiencing hardships, with essential baby items to safely and adequately care for their children. The program provides a unique opportunity to earn coupons, which can be redeemed for clothing, a car seat and baby supplies. Parents receive coupons for learning about nutrition and parenting, keeping prenatal and child appointments, childbirth classes and keeping their children’s immunizations up to date. Parents can also earn coupons by continuing their education.

Family & Peer Wellness Support Groups: The wellness support groups are free, peer-led, and open to anyone who identifies as an individual with a mental health condition or is the loved one of an individual with a mental health condition. Each group is led by two NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) certified volunteers who have a lived experience. Participants gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others and important resources. The group encourages empathy and productive discussion; participants discover inner strength and empower themselves by sharing their own experiences.

St. John Bosco Clinic, Inc.: St. John Bosco Clinic (SJBC) is a free clinic offering primary care, chronic disease management and some specialty care to individuals who are uninsured and living in Miami-Dade County with incomes below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. The clinic participates in the State of Florida Department of Health Volunteer Health Care Provider Program. Following a nurse practitioner model of care, the NPs see the majority of primary care patients and 25+ physicians volunteer their services to see clinic patients, mostly for specialty care.

M-Power Trauma-Informed Care Program: The M-Power program brings mental health services directly in the Guitars Over Guns (GOGO) classroom, alongside arts-based mentorship programs taking place after school. M-Power addresses the emotional and mental stress associated with students’ growing up in poverty and surrounded by violence. It expands our current mentorship program model to provide trauma-informed social-emotional support to GOGO students and mentors through targeted social work interventions, training in trauma-informed care and a mental health support structure for both students and mentors of the GOGO program.

ICU baby’s Mentor Support Program is volunteer based, designed to increase NICU families’ access to emotional support during their newborn’s NICU journey.

MUJER is in South Miami-Dade County, as a certified rape crisis program. For the past 26 years, we offer our clients crisis intervention, a 24/7 sexual assault helpline, victim advocacy, case management, accompaniment to court and medical appointments, individual therapy and support groups, referrals to shelters, transitional housing, legal and immigration services, as well as Children’s Support Groups.
