bcb723 This is an unexpectedly memorable album of blackgaze, apparently informed by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft. Honestly, the music is also pretty well informed by Deafheaven's "Sunbather" (original band name was Deafknife... ok). But that's not a bad thing. I totally missed this record when it came out. If you have the time and patience to live with these songs for a bit, they will stay with you. Wait until the end for the final tidal wave of the title track to wash you away. An epic experience. Favorite track: Kadath.

A worthy successor to Litourgiya. Same brilliant and unique Orthodox atmosphere mixed with the crushing intensity of black metal. It’s a shame about the Batushka schism and unfortunate for me that it caused me to wait on checking this sequel out for so long. 8/10 RJ

This is the album that started it all and matters the most. Growing up in the Armenian Orthodox Church, the liturgical passages were nostalgic. Then, the blast beats, distorted guitars and black metal screams work synergistically with the choir, creating something unique and special that the black metal scene hasn't heard before.
