SlashNext has revealed that AI and automation are driving a huge increase in credential compromise attacks, with the threat accelerating at a shocking pace. How shocking? Well, according to the report, credential theft attacks surged by 703% in the second half of 2024, with a sharp escalation in the use of sophisticated phishing kits and social engineering tactics. “The 703% increase in credential phishing and 141% rise in social engineering attacks align with the expanded use of generative AI,” said Callie Guenther, Senior Manager of the Cyber Threat Research Team at managed detection and response provider Critical Start. Nicole Carignan, Vice President of Strategic Cyber AI at Darktrace, said that we should be fighting AI with AI. “As sophistication of phishing attacks continue to grow,” she said, “organisations cannot rely on employees to be the last line of defence against these attacks.” Story here: https://lnkd.in/gBkfgi7T

By 2025, Gartner predicts that 75% of enterprise-generated data will be created and processed outside traditional data centres or the cloud, a significant increase from less than 10% in 2018. This exponential growth underscores the rising importance of edge computing, a distributed computing model that processes data closer to its source. Here, we explore what edge computing is all about in more detail: https://lnkd.in/gvGd4PpR

Choosing between solid-state drives (SSDs) and hard disk drives (HDDs) comes down to your preferences regarding performance, longevity and cost-effectiveness. The comparison below delves into the nuances of SSDs and HDDs, providing insights tailored to various use cases. Here, we focus on 2.5in SSDs as opposed to M.2 SSDs. The former are more commonly found in servers, data centres and desktop PCs, while M.2 SSDs are favoured by laptop makers for their slim designs. They’re also faster… and cost more. Networking virtualisation is a technology that abstracts networking functions from the underlying hardware. In doing so, it allows enterprises to optimise resource utilisation, enhance scalability and simplify network management. This decoupling of network services from underlying hardware often leads to better flexibility and efficiency. Here's how it all works and why it matters for businesses: https://lnkd.in/ghm96mD9
