Roundtable invitation (planned February 2025). New modalities, new tools: choosing a flexible digital platform for drug discovery. Scientific Computing World is hosting a virtual roundtable (limited to 6-8 participants) for those in drug discovery, particularly those working with new modalities, such as RNA therapeutics, gene therapies, ADCs (Antibody Drug Conjugates) and protein degraders. With these new multiple modalities, existing software solutions may not be fit for purpose, so the discussion will explore how research teams are adapting to this changing landscape and what challenges and considerations they face. This roundtable provides research leaders with the opportunity to learn from each other’s experience in managing these major changes in drug discovery – and, in particular, how they affect interaction with digital platforms on which research data is recorded and shared. Who should attend? Project, programme and research group leaders Principal Scientist within Medicinal Chemistry, Discovery Biology R&D IT experts/consultants Working in: pharma and biotech R&D Questions we plan to address include: What challenges have you faced when working with these new modalities from a software platform perspective – and how have you overcome them? With multimodal projects, such as ADCs or islet cell therapies, how do you foster collaboration between biology, chemistry, data science and external teams – and how can/do software platforms help or hinder? Different types of modalities generate different types of datasets – how do you approach organising and analysing these data to make decisions more efficiently? What standard do you follow to represent your new modalities so as to register and compare them easily?
