One of the most important global shipping and maritime events in the world, London International Shipping Week 2025 will celebrate its 12th anniversary in September 2025, playing host to thousands of international industry decision-makers who will attend the hundreds of official events during the week. The Steering Group enjoyed the views from Norton Rose Fulbright and the contrast with the reminders of maritime history through the area as they set the course for an impactful event in 2025. You will find early details here https://lisw.com/ and we are looking forward to #MaritimeEnterpriseEngagement through core and fringe events next year. #LISW25

The Christmas Spectacular concert at Portsmouth Guildhall was a fabulous massed bands performance from His Majesty’s Royal Marines Band Service #Collingwood and #Portsmouth. We hope the short clip will help you feel ‘merry’. For this performance, among the guests of Naval Base Commander Cdre Marcel Rosenberg were several organisations focusing on current and future skills, particularly in the maritime sector. It was fitting to see and hear the Collingwood Volunteer Cadet Corps playing in the foyer and on stage - a real credit to their instructors. Looking forward to 2025 where #MaritineEnterpriseEngagement will be working with STEMunity for the FIRST LEGO LEAGUE CHALLENGE ‘Submerged’, Maritime UK Solent skills and careers programme and develop links with UTC Portsmouth.

The BattleLab Meet and Greet was a packed festive edition - thank you Elaine Plested for ensuring we remembered to sign up. The BattleLab is an innovation space on an Innovation Park (Dorset Innovation Park). Increasingly you will discover interesting things happening and opportunities to collaborate. A number of attendees stepped up to make others aware of what they do, before tucking into an incredible array of delicious goodies. Enter the Dragon’s Den … 💷 Gazing into the future with #CommercialX and Plexal for pitches focused on how defence can increase confidence in target detection, identification and classification by drones. 🔮 Brilliant to hear from AVoptics, Aktyvus Photonics, Overview Ltd., Raptor Photonics Ltd and Sentinel Photonics about their developing technologies and agile expertise in response to this brief. The session has clearly underlined the power of collaboration and the importance of SMEs in enhancing the supply chain. Where needs can be discussed rather than requirements presented early market engagement can support spiral development and enhance capability. Thank you Dina Kakaras and team for the opportunity to join this great insight into the problem statement and innovation in defence acquisition. #MaritimeEnterpriseEngagement #Innovation #Procurement

📦 What’s in the box? The first question at the BattleLab breakfast meet-up, as Richard Barrington unloaded some smart electronics from JET Connectivity. 🎁 What could I do if a network were available? The discussion focused on the technology behind private 5G networks in inhospitable conditions. Each box can connect with up to 30 devices or sensors and create a mesh with other boxes within a range. A great range of use cases followed, from connectivity for search and rescue on a mountain, through connectivity for autonomous tractors to deployable comms for missions. Great to join the #ThingsConnected meet up at the BattleLab. The monthly focus on connected devices and Internet of Things always brings new connections. You can sign up for the BattleLab newsletter here to discover opportunities to connect: https://lnkd.in/eJmth6xm #MaritimeEnterpriseEngagement #IoT

This incredible large format 5-axis CNC is the largest in the U.K. and belongs to MonsterCAM Composite Systems Ltd in Fareham. MonsterCAM hosted a great Make UK Defence members networking event with a factory tour and presentations from Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) Gateway and Navy Commercial. Together with insights into this business and a great overview of trade body activity from Andrew Kinniburgh this was an uplifting event focused on potential for collaboration and opportunities in the Defence Industrial Strategy. Through the tour and networking we discovered; ⚓️ novel uses of nano technology in materials, manufacturing and coatings ⚓️ how Social Value builds growth and the value of collaboration to achieve this ⚓️ where the acquisition pipeline will be published and updated and why Defence Sourcing Portal is important. The CNC is one of four used by the business and you really do need to stand inside to appreciate the size! #MaritimeEnterpriseEngagement #MemberRepresentation

Yesterday, the UK's new flagship, HMS Prince of Wales, opened it doors to the public. Like the Beatles, it has a strong affiliation to the maritime city of Liverpool. A physical demonstration of innovative technology as the most advanced ship in the UK fleet. It provides the perfect platform to discuss how a maritime heritage can be the bedrock for a maritime future driven by technology and creative thinking. Last night, guests were welcomed on board for a reception where they got to see the historic 'Evening Colours' ceremony, and watch the Royal Marines Corps of Drums. Guests from all over the North had the opportunity to speak to members of the Ship's Company and learn more about what the Royal Navy does. #royalnavy #RNReserves #innovation #maritime #liverpool #enterprise Thank you for attending and talking all things Maritime Enterprise, it was great to build some stronger connections between the Northwest and Northeast: Yasamin Milne Danielle Kershaw Susan Scurlock MBE Duncan Sime Prof Andrew Schofield Richard Deighton Massimo Noro Ricci Boston Anthony Casson Mersey Maritime

The Society of Maritime Industries (SMI) Annual Dinner was a fitting celebration of many successes for the sector this year and a great opportunity for networking and building collaborations. Opened by the chair, Brian Johnson, the venue was full and received the overview of the year positively. Bringing together members from across the six councils it was clear there are benefits for large and small organisations. After dinner Peter Sparkes, CEO of the RNLI, outlined the future for the organisation, celebrating boatbuilding and repair in Poole, Cowes and Powys. SMI provides a wide range of activities both internationally and in the UK, and members’ interests are represented by six councils which focus on the markets in: 🔭 Marine science and technology 🛳️ Commercial marine, including ship building, repair and equipment 🤖 Maritime autonomous systems 🧑💻 Digital technology ⚓️ Ports and terminals infrastructure 🛟 Maritime defence and security, including naval platforms, systems, security and safety We are already looking forward to this conference in 2025: The Future of the UK Naval and Maritime Security Enterprise https://lnkd.in/ePuRu3qj #MaritimeEnterpriseEngagement #SMIAnnualDinner2024
