📱 Watch how a smartphone can be turned into a wearable device for research in our latest webinar. One week to go… 🗓️ 4 December 2024 | 🕐1-2PM GMT | Book for free 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e4SigVgT There’s just a week left to book onto our Developing Digital Bio-Markers for Drug Development webinar. Our expert speaker, Director of Digital Biomarkers Data Analytics at GSK, Valentin Hamy will explain how the use of smartphones and wearables can help to collect real-world patient data that can enhance the value of medicines. He’ll demonstrate how this can be done by sharing details of GSK’s WeaRAble-PRO Study which shows just how much digital biomarkers in clinical trials can complement traditional clinical measures. Those attending will also hear from Aiden Acquah, a final year PhD Student at the University of Oxford. He will share how he used wrist accelerometer technology to better understand early risk markers for those living with Parkinson’s disease. Don't miss out on this fascinating webinar. WORKSHOP INVITATION: DEVELOPMENT OF A COMPETENCY FRAMEWORK FOR RESEARCH TECHNICAL PROFESSIONALS The EPSRC awarded The University of Manchester a grant “Developing technical capability and capacity for UK secure data environments”that recognises the importance of Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) that build Secure Data Environments (SDEs) and Trusted Research Environments (TREs) - particularly in the health domain. This has enabled the creation of a multi-organisation hub (SDE Team Development Hub) that is led by the University of Manchester in collaboration with the University of Liverpool and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (https://lnkd.in/eBtZYPSG [sdertp.org]).In 2022 The Goldacre Review [https://lnkd.in/dHCVm3u] highlighted the need to create teams/ institutions that have the technical skills to manage complex problems and can develop infrastructure and platforms that facilitate analytical work in health. However, in the current academic and NHS settings it is difficult to recruit and maintain the right people to deliver this, partly due to career progression limitations, and a lack of recognition of their roles as a distinct profession. For current RTPs, this is also compounded with scarce training and professional development which makes it difficult to keep skills up-to-date and connected in a rapidly evolving ecosystem. This programme of work aims to build capacity and develop the associated competency framework and training to be able to address these issues.Competency Framework: core to this project is the development of a competency framework for RTPs who design and build SDEs. During this event, the University of Manchester would like to work with you to define the key tasks, skills, technologies and standards that are important for individuals involved in the design and creation of the technical IT infrastructure for SDEs. These might include, but not be limited to: Platform Engineers, DevOps Engineers, System Administrators and IT Solution Architects. Your participation will provide Manchester with the lived experience, knowledge and diverse perspectives to ensure their work can be effective in supporting the UK’s current and future SDE RTPs. Tuesday 3rd December 14.30 - 17.00 https://lnkd.in/ecCTrqfp [eventbrite.com] Thursday 5th December 10.30 - 13.00 https://lnkd.in/eiB3c7vj [eventbrite.com] Eventbrite Workshop: Research Technical Professionals Competency Framework (3rd Dec) A community event to define the key tasks, skills, tech and standards needed for people involved in the design and creation of SDE/TREs (18 kB) https://lnkd.in/ecCTrqfp Eventbrite Workshop: Research Technical Professionals Competency Framework (3rd Dec) A community event to define the key tasks, skills, tech and standards needed for people involved in the design and creation of SDE/TREs (18 kB)
