How can you develop your leadership skills through education?
Agree with Rupa. How many leaders prioritise their time for learning themselves? That’s the first hurdle. We’ve found success running 60 min max learning sessions on a monthly basis to help close knowledge or behavioural gaps. It makes it easier to ‘sell’ to the leaders. At the end of the session, learnings are captured and one or two actions made to experiment with over the next 30datwz

How can you communicate change to stakeholders without causing conflict?
2 great ways of engaging people to buy into the need for change would be: 1. Go on a corporate safari where people go and see another company who is / has gone through the change 2. Run hands-on immersive simulations to bring to life the challenge the people are going through or what the new way of working will be like For both, after they goes through these, run a retrospective focusing on what they liked, what did they learn, implications for them and actions they can take as a result.

Banking on culture to management risk
Corven
Banks need to take back risk management from regulators:
• Banks say that almost 80% of operational risk management effort is in response to external regulation. Best practice would have more than 50% driven internally by the companies
• Financial services are 20-30 years behind other industries in terms of addressing behaviours to manage operational risk
• Banks need to adopt proven tools and learn from other industries. -
Managing risk equals managing culture
Corven
Major safety failures can boil down to one simple thing: complacency. You can
have great commercial results, a great safety record and even great evidence
that your safety provisions are adequate, yet still suffer a catastrophe. It’s a
counter-intuitive lesson that the chief executives of many leading companies
have learnt the hard way in recent years. And it’s one that, in our opinion, shows
safety and operational performance are intimately entwined.Other authorsSee publication -
