Today I was privileged to join Will Farnell’s panel alongside Ian Phillips at the CharterGroup annual conference, sharing my views on cloud adoption, digital barriers and the future of tech. Another great debate that could have gone on all evening! 🗣️ Couple of great stats from Will in this session today: - Estimated that there is STILL only 20% cloud adoption in client accounting - In 6 years, technology will be doing 60% of the tasks we do today This is crazy when you think about it! Stephanie Cassee is spot on. This is exactly what our customers say, that they have found procurements to be far more successful when there is engagement with suppliers before starting the formal part of the procurement – that way they can better understand the sorts of features and innovations that are available on the market, and which of these can best help them. They can then specify these innovations when the formal part of the procurement is underway, resulting in a solution that better meets the needs of the authority. Councils looking to procure a new EMS, please have a quick look at this short article by my colleague.

I really enjoyed this session. The piece that stood out for me was Will Farnell talking about the importance of purpose. This stacks up with the messaging in Drive by Dan Pink about the things employees value but I also think (to Will's point) it can inform decision making. Xero's purpose is to make life better for people in small business, their advisors and communities around the world. This is engrained in our culture and our strategy - to the extent that it is named "winning on purpose". How much are you and your team tuned in to your purpose? Have you defined it and shared it? Such an important topic for any business owner.

What about the SME’s? As a leader at a Yorkshire SME business, yesterday was a hard read with the Labour budget. Big rises in costs in light of already higher cost bases. How will it impact their growth plans? With the increased pressure now for SME’s, it is even more important that Public Sector spend is devolved more fairly to British SME’s. 👌 So I am even more excited to announce our latest framework award news at ACS Group. To all Public Sector procurement in West Yorkshire - lets talk how we can add value, save our tax payer monies and support the SME industry at the same time. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is to invest £8 billion in the UK. The investment is estimated to support around 14,000 jobs per year at local businesses. These positions all form part of the AWS data centre supply chain, ranging from construction, facility maintenance, engineering, telecommunications, and other jobs within the broader local economy. The £8 billion investment in digital and AI infrastructure over the next five years will support the growing needs of our customers and partners, and support the transformation of the UK's digital economy.
