Q1 has been a huge success at PMJ!!! As well as a new office and 2 new team members💪 we have been busy helping the construction industry increase protection and reduce the cost of there insurance programmes🔥 Here are just a few examples of how we are helping the sector: 🏗 Large National RC Frame Contractor – We managed to save a considerable sum on the EL/PL/CAR as well as the PI. To ensure continuity of rating we fixed the rates for 2 years, introducing a generous low claims rebate to encourage and reward future claims performance. ⚒ London Based Groundworks Contractor – PMJ were contacted 3 days before renewal, due to current broker not disclosing large premium increases until that point. At short notice, we managed to renegotiate these increases and close some considerable gaps on the PL & CAR insurance. 🏡 Home Counties based main contractor – This client contacted the team at PMJ, worried about the restrictions on the current contracting policies. We corrected cover, increased the limits at a marginal increase. Giving the client peace of mind that they are protected. 💰 Performance Bond, Main Contractor – Despite hardening market conditions in the surety market, we negotiated favourable rates on a bespoke wording for a £21 Million contract. Ensuring that the contract could be awarded. 🛣 Section 38 Bond, New House Builder – We arranged a schedule of surety products, satisfying a local council of our client’s ability to meet its long-term obligations. As a result, our client managed to free up much needed capital that was held on current projects and, requested on future projects. ⛏ Basement Contractor – Multiple examples of managing to source and secure favourable rates for Basement contractors Professional Indemnity. Procuring savings of up to 40%. 🚧 Demolition Contractor – Saving client money whilst improving cover. Unbelievably the current policy had a demolition exclusion!! 🛠 Interior Fit Out – Client approached PMJ after having difficulty with a large claim. Decision was made to appoint PMJ, and we assumed control of the claim and got negotiations back on track. By maintaining cover with the current insurer, we managed to get an excellent deal at renewal and are confident of a positive result for the client regarding the claim settlement. 🏘 Project policy, Basement contract in London – This client was let down by the current broker, who was unable to source any terms at all. The team at PMJ managed to secure a policy in the joint names, picking up the structure, works and the 6.5.1. exposures. 🏦 New Building Warranty – Policy arranged for a property developer for a mixed-use new build scheme on the south Coast. Worked with client to get building control, combined with the technical audit, saving on overall spend and leading to a slicker process overall. CLC Adjudicators Can Easlily Order Substantial Indemnity Costs in Unjust Dismissal Cases. "...Given the amount of damages awarded in the instant case, which were limited to out-of-pocket losses for a relatively short period and a modest amount of severance pay, it is entirely possible that the fees charged by the appellant’s counsel might have been close to or perhaps even exceeded the amount of damages awarded. When is the best time to get insured? Do you hold Directors and Officers Liability insurance? Do you know if you need it or how it could be beneficial to hold? Many years ago I saw a claim where a machinery manufacturer had suggested removing a guard from an item of machinery. Sadly, a member of staff was later killed after becoming caught in the machine. Following a long and protracted legal case, the MD was found liable and sentenced to a term in prison. D&O Liability insurance wouldn't have changed the outcome, but it would have ensured the MD had the resources to robustly defend their case. And may have resulted in a lesser sentence.
