I believe in paying for software. I use lots of it to build & support my habit tracker app “Did You Do it Today?“, and pay for a fair chunk of it. I’m happy to do so, though, as the stuff I pay for really helps me, and it feels good to support the folks & companies building & maintaining it. Software I pay for: • WordPress → Domain name & web hosting, blogging • Bubble → Full stack, no-code development platform (this software is incredible & is the only reason a non-coder like me can build an app like DYDit) • Stripe → Payments processing • Sinch ClickSend → Daily Check-in emailer • SendGrid → Daily Check-in SMS sender • Titan → Customer support emailer • Google Workspace → Spreadsheets, forms, & other emailing • SnagIt → Screen captures & visual designs Software that’s free: • Trello → Idea & task management • Notejoy → Writing • Figma → Visual designs • Microsoft Copilot → AI image generation • Meta AI → AI image generation • Bubble third-party plugins → Visual elements (eg. charts) • LinkedIn → Marketing • Meta Facebook → Marketing • Instagram → Marketing • Twitter → Marketing • Threads → Marketing Holy shit, that’s a lotta software! By analyzing historical/market data and identifying patterns, companies are able to predict future claims more accurately and set premiums accordingly. AI-Powered Fraud Detection 🕵️‍♂️ Artificial intelligence is playing a crucial role in detecting and preventing fraud, which is on the rise. Machine learning algorithms are being used to identify suspicious activities and anomalies in real-time, reducing fraudulent claims and saving costs. Customer-Centric Solutions 💡 Investment into data analytics is enabling insurers to offer more personalized and customer-centric solutions. There has been an increase in recent years on digital based products/online only policy options, so this is essential to ensure customer experience is still where it needs to be. By understanding customer behavior and preferences, insurers can tailor their products and services to meet individual needs, improving customer satisfaction and retention. Interesting stats from the team at Juicebox (YC S22) 📊 This is a data deep-dive for July: which technical skills were most commonly searched via the platform? 𝐓𝐎𝐓𝐏🔥📈 - Python - React - AWS Significantly, Python is searched three times more often than Node.js, which ranks fifth in search frequency. Interestingly, AWS is the only cloud provider to feature in the top 10, while GCP and Azure are ranked 18th and 26th, respectively. Machine learning and AI are also frequently searched, with both appearing in the top 15. However, I expected them to rank higher in the searches based on recent hiring trends.

I really do not know where they have pulled this data from but it is in stark contrast to hundreds of small to medium sized business owners I have spoken to over the past 18 months Many small businesses, particularly in technology recruitment, have faced significant hurdles despite so called supportive measures such as the British Business Bank's Recovery Loan Scheme. The third iteration of the RLS, aimed to provide nearly £1.4 billion, however, the benefits of this scheme have not been uniformly felt across all sectors. The claims made in this article seem beyond ridiculous, based on my own experience and the anecdotal evidence I have collated from other business owners and finance brokers. This is something that could really swing the upcoming election, adressing the availability of growth capital to small business, particularly in the services sector, will be vital to the UK's recovery. Trained AI agents order X factor of Y elements in Z universes, in parallel using customer behavior data to identify common patterns in the test coverage. The QA engineer keeps drinking and curates the strategy. Real customer walks in, and shares a Modelo with the QA engineer. Lessons: 1. AI is here to help QAs, not just replace them 2. It's #BubbleCon2024 at the moment (sadly I couldn't make it after all despite having tickets and flights booked 😭) but the Bubble team announced some great updates yesterday: 1️⃣ A native mobile builder for seamless iOS and Android apps. This is massive IMO and I'm on the early beta list 👍 2️⃣ A revamped editor with an intuitive workflow tab. This is available immediately as a optional upgrade and seems to be much improved already. 3️⃣ Flusk acquisition for top-tier, automated app security. 4️⃣ AI-powered app builder arriving soon.
