Out of office till Monday 16th September and when I return - there’s going to be some massive changes including: - New Business Start Date - New Business Premises - JAXI Consulting Ltd New Staff Member - Net Zero Goals Within 12 Months - New Software Training & Integration - Huge EV, PV & LED Lighting Orders Looking back on the past 3+ Years since going on my own, I’ve had lots of questions why/how/when etc.. 1. Why did you start JAXI? I was put on furlough during COVID as were many. I just got my first mortgage and there were some worries about being on 80% of the wage and being asked to work - I was absolutely gutted but it was arguably the best thing to happen as it forced my hand and gave me that KICK up the JAXI 😉 2. How? Speak to Electricians, Wholesalers, Consultants within the industry as ask for as much advice as possible 🙏 I still made massive mistakes like buying a truck not in the business name 😂🤦🏻‍♂️ I’ve learned you can NEVER ask too many questions! 3. When? I knew when it was the right time - I saved over a 4/5 month period and made sure I had enough pennies in the 🐷 bank to know I could go it on my own. Only you know when the RIGHT time is. Of course, I’d change a few things but who wouldn’t right? I’m in the best place I’ve been since starting work and have to thank past employers and customers for letting me know what kind of Manager/Business Owner I want to be. Johnny in our Servo team is working on a Mitsubishi Servo Motor that’s come in to Fletcher Moorland from a food production customer. Along with the obvious damage to the power connector, we’ve carried out a thorough assessment of the Servo Motor. This has allowed us to identify other areas of maintenance.. Ensuring our customer is aware of other wear and potential faults allows us to prevent a return of this unit for work in the future, causing further production disruption. While in for maintenance among other things we will be sleeving the non-drive end (NDE). Of course every assessment and action we take is noted or recorded and accessible to our customer through SERVICEview. It might be an odd perspective, but if we’ve had a unit it for repair. We don’t want it returning outside of a scheduled service. There are control cabinet keys, and then there are Control Cabinet Keys. This lovely bit of kit from KNIPEX is most definitely the latter. How often do we all grab a £1 service key from the “special offers” tub on the counter in the wholesalers, only to have it break on its first outing? A good friend (Mike Worth) has often expressed irritation about this phenomenon. ✏️ The cost of manufacturing something of poor quality may be lower; however, the shipping cost is the same as that of something decent. Except that the broken, poor-quality items, need to be dealt with by waste disposal processes here. ✏️ If we’re lucky, the processed waste will be shipped back around the world to be made into a product again, hopefully something with a longer life. So, it's not cheaper at all, really. ✏️ The point of this post is that while certainly not cheap, this key should last for many years. As a result, it reduces carbon costs, packaging, and my blood pressure! ⭐️ Just make sure that if you borrow it, please return it…! #electricalcontractor #electricaltesting #electricalinspection #tools
