IBM's Senior Director of Product Marketing, Ben Ball, discussed the company's advances in AI and the new product IBM Concert during an interview preceding the Intelligent Automation not Conference. IBM Concert is designed to manage the complex data involved in app development and maintenance, utilizing AI to improve application performance. Ball highlighted the importance of making AI's recommendations understandable and questioned to ensure transparency. IBM aims to offer a use-case-neutral suite of AI technologies, and IBM Concert has already demonstrated potential in simplifying data management for organizations. As part SEC of IBM's AI solutions, the product will be showcased at the Intelligent Automation Conference, highlighting its role in transforming tech operations. Ball advises organizations new to AI to approach it with a clear use case in mind for the best outcomes, as IBM Concert continues to progress and offer deeper insights.

We just acquired WarpStream at Confluent, and I couldn't be more excited! But why? There's a lot of reasons to love the Cloud, and I've seen huge successes within customers like Curve and Funding Circle UK who have jumped headfirst into Confluent Cloud, but sometimes there are challenges that end up slowing down full adoption of a fully managed service. Confluent Platform offers an alternative for hosting your own data streaming platform, but the overhead of managing this can be a burden for smaller teams. WarpStream's BYOC option will allow us to help those stuck in the middle. Whether its a sovereignty issue when deploying in a new territory, or edge deployments where an easier management saves hiring another engineer, the option to have control of your data plane while Confluent manage the system control plane will allow businesses to accelerate their adoption of a #DataStreamingPlatform across their business. There's a bright future ahead having Warpstream in the team, and we're looking forward to seeing what comes next!

It’s worth checking out some of the analyst assessments of the hyperscaler quarterly results today #AI is fully ‘on’ but this means significant investment is needed to build out #data centres to deliver the capability to customers in the cloud - similar stories from Microsoft Google and Meta And for context, ‘significant’ means things like the fact that Microsoft's capital spending for a single quarter now is more than its annual expenditure used to be prior to 2020… …and OpenAI (chat GPT-maker) is rumoured to have annualised losses of $5 billion 😱 All of this has spooked #investors despite the fact that #AI is beginning to be monetised and is supporting the growth of their cloud businesses The infrastructure suppliers and chipmakers are struggling to meet demand too, although there appear to be more distinct winners and losers here https://lnkd.in/esw4_MVA

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced an £8billion investment in the UK over the next decade. This investment will be used to expand AWS's cloud computing infrastructure, including the construction and operation of data centres across the country. Firstly, I see this a great news for AWS customers. With an expanded cloud infrastructure, AWS can offer offer improved performance, reduced latency, and enhanced data sovereignty capabilities, empowering customers to innovate and scale more efficiently. Additionally this increased compute power gives more capacity for customers to take advantage of innovative technologies such as AI and quantum computing. Secondly, the investment demonstrates the UKs position as a leader in the rapidly evolving cloud landscape. AWSs desire to create thousands of new jobs reflects their commitment to meeting the growing demand for cloud services, supporting the UK's digital transformation.
