“I met Tarquin back in 2020, during lockdown, when he gave the presentation “How to make the most of digital networking” at our Findacure rare disease charity’s Virtual Rare Disease Showcase (Before we rebranded as Beacon!). Tarquin has known, supported and worked with our charity for nearly a decade prior to 2020, running marathons to raise money for us, giving his time and expertise to our events and connecting us with corporate donors who we otherwise wouldn’t have met. In fact, Tarquin was the sole reason Beacon was chosen as his organisation’s Christmas charity of choice. He is even the sole reason Beacon got connected with the Eastern Promise Podcast, which Beacon will be featured on in the Autumn! I cannot stress enough how selfless Tarquin is as a person. His support and advocacy go way beyond his professional, business life – he has a personal interest and passion in supporting those living with a rare condition. He fully understands the importance of patient groups and has been my personal rock when I got my shock multiple sclerosis diagnosis three years ago at just 26 years old. Tarquin has become my friend, cheerleader and role model. I believe he has now donated his blood freely and happily (look at his photos on LinkedIn!) and is almost at the century mark to help others. I’ve seen him make these donations for years and was so inspired to help in my own way (I don’t like needles) by donating my hair to The Little Princess Trust as an annual event in memory or honour of those battling cancer and other rare conditions that lead to hair loss. Tarquin would be a fantastic ambassador and advocate for a rare disease business and a true role model for all those who work beside or underneath him. Actions speak louder than words: Tarquin has been there from the start and has done everything that he can for me and the charity both personally and professionally.”

Here's how you can stay adaptable and resilient in a competitive business networking industry.
To be effective in a competitive business networking environment you have to get out of your comfort zone and change the meetings you attend. This means being prepared to adapt by learning about new innovations and relevant discussion points and by staying curious. "Be like Water, my friend" and flow with the times and embrace change.

How can you communicate data insights to a client with information overload?
Understanding who is going to read the data and how they might want to use it is a key part of creating the right format for them to receive it in. Ask the questions up front - Who is this for internally? Will you be presenting this to anyone else? What would help you pass on this information most effectively?
