Interesting story about a business with sustainability at its heart. One that was set up during lock down and now is finding its way into the High Street. Well done to founder Josephine Philips and Marks and Spencer. Will this be a growing trend and offering from fashion retailers? The writer of this article thinks there could well be double incentive for more fashion retailers to get on board. Crossed the 30-day marker of my new position with Inspire Brands this week. Some thoughts and takeaways - -- The saying “Walking a mile in someone’s shoes” is hitting differently right now. I’ve partnered with lots of internal recruiters over the years and thought I had an idea of what it must be like for them, however experiencing it firsthand my perspective has changed and my respect has deepened. -- Starting a new job is a big life moment, and it’s important to BE IN THE MOMENT for it. This is something I will keep having to remind myself. (Like sticky note on the monitor type constant reminder!) --It’s important to start good organization and documentation habits early on. Yes, OneNote is my BFF right now.  --I'm learning folks know our Brands, but they may not know of Inspire Brands (yet). Especially in the engineering community here in Atlanta. And with the tremendous opportunity ahead of us on that front to continue building out applications that touch such a large % of the world's population, I’m excited to help spread the word. 🙂 --It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Set small goals for yourself, and chip away at them. Excited for the next 30 days and to keep building!

I was once asked who should own employer brand within an organisation. 🤔 The truth is, it should be owned by everyone. Every team, every employee has a part to play in how you're company is perceived as an employer. The John Lewis Partnership's Learning Team is a great example of this. Launching a virtual work experience programme earlier this year, they are already helping to change perceptions of the Partnership (particularly with young people) for the better. 🙌 Before taking part in the programme 32% of participants had considered a career in the Partnership vs 77% after taking part in the programme. Job Application Tip: Stand Out with a Clear Subject Line and Properly Named CV When applying for a job, it’s crucial to make a strong first impression. Here are a few simple yet effective tips to help your application stand out: Specify the Role in the Subject Line: Always mention the role you are applying for in the subject line of your email. This helps recruiters quickly identify your application and ensures it doesn’t get lost in their inbox. Name Your CV Appropriately: Avoid generic file names like “CV0101xyz” or “cvxyz”. Instead, use a clear and professional format such as “YourName_CV”. This makes it easier for recruiters to find and reference your CV. Tailor Your CV and Cover Letter: Customize your CV and cover letter for each job application. Highlight the skills and experiences that are most relevant to the job you are applying for. Include a Professional Email Address: Make sure your email address is professional. Ideally, it should be a combination of your first and last name @ any search engine. 9 months into my role at Retail Insight and things are in full swing! 🤠so I'm taking time to do a bit of a gushy post 😀   One thing that keeps standing out to me is the discovery of just how impactful our product offering is. We say we're all about Optimised Insights, but what does this actually mean? This week I caught up with my colleagues Melanie Adelhardt and Daniel Taylor to chat more about our InventoryInsight product, and I’m glad I did. Picture the scene: your favourite biscuits 🍪 (custard creams for me!) or your preferred fresh produce are either out of stock or swapped with a substitute in your online order.  But why? 🤔 We found that managing stock within the store, which is constantly shifting and frequently requires manual updates, is an exhausting and expensive task. In fact, 60% of inventory audits are inaccurate – 60%!!! So, how are we helping to ease the burden on our store colleagues? 💡 Our very clever data team pull data from a variety of relevant sources (sales, store formats, product types to name a few) and put them into a machine-learning model. From my understanding (though Dan T will probably correct me if I’m wrong) it’s continuously watching, assessing and predicting. It’s taking not only the time and labour burden off the stores, but it’s also helping to increase profits and even helping our clients plan for their normal stock ups and downs.  The return on investment here is fantastic. Happy global TA Day to all my connections working in talent acquisition! I am quite uniquely outspoken in my advocacy for internal TA, considering a large proportion of my role is reliant on companies engaging external support. I have never understood the completely outdated dynamic of internal TA & external talent partners almost battling against each other. For me, the very best businesses and the very best individuals in both worlds, collaborate effectively and know each others worth. It was part of the reason for me joining FDI, a refreshing approach to working with TA, not against TA, as so many recruitment companies seem to do. I want to take a moment to thank all the amazing TA professionals in my network, you are absolutely pivotal to our industry and at a time where your role has probably never been harder, it’s great that there is a day dedicated to your recognition. There’s a common misconception that internal recruitment must be easy right now. Advert responses are through the roof and there is a misunderstanding that there is more talent on the market than ever before. In reality, while applications are high, TA are having to spend more time than ever sieving through CV’s/resumes and qualifying people that either aren’t relevant or aren’t the right fit for the business. All while budgets are tight, average tenure is down and expectations are high! So, to those on each side of the “fence” let’s have less “butting heads” and more “combining minds”. Delivering a Presentation in Interview It is increasingly common to see a presentation as part of an interview process. For some this can be very daunting. Presenting to a group, or even a single interviewer, is not a natural skill we all possess. Delivering a presentation is a good way to showcase your communication skills, knowledge and confidence, especially if you are interviewing for a job where you will need to regularly deliver presentations. So how can you do this well? Preparing: ✔️ Understand your audience and the purpose of the presentation. ✔️ Research the topic of your presentation thoroughly. ✔️ Structure your presentation clearly and logically. ✔️ Keep the presentation simple! Images and animations can add a lot to a presentation but don’t overdo it to the point where is becomes a distraction to the content. ✔️ Keep the text on the slides minimal – use bullet points and talk through the content in more detail. ✔️ Practice, practice, practice. Deliver your presentation aloud, present to a friend or family member, and time how long your presentation is. Delivering: ⭐️ Speak clearly and don’t rush  ⭐️ Make eye contact and keep your body language as relaxed as possible ⭐️ Leave time for any questions from your interviewer/s and prepare answers for any likely questions. If you are feeling nervous, take deep breaths and take pauses. It can help to have notes to hold or a clicker if you are not sure what to do with your hands!
