Salesforce World Tour returns to the London Excel tomorrow... here's my top 5 tips to make the most of the event: 1. Don't over schedule meetings! 😅 It's good to pre-select some of the sessions you want to attend and the key people you want to meet, but remember that there will be over 10,000 people at the Excel tomorrow and from my experience - it's pretty chaotic! Don't try to plan TOO much... meetings will run over, people you are meant to be meeting will be running late and don't expect everything to play out as planned. 2. Network, network, network! 🕺🏻 One of the things Salesforce does REALLY well is bringing people together and driving the hashtag #ohana that we all live and feel within the ecosystem. Salesforce WT is the perfect place to connect with like-minded trailblazers, catch up with ex colleagues, introduce yourself to prospective employers and engage with peers. Don't be afraid to say hi to random people! 3. Pre-select your sessions! 🗓 There's SO many discussion topics, product launches, fireside chats and keynotes, that it's important to scope out what you want to learn or hear about before you go - jump onto Salesforce+ and put them in your diary. 4. Follow up! 🙋🏻‍♂️ From the introductions you've had, connections you've made and things you've learned, make sure you connect and follow up after the event. Send them a LI connection request and remind them of the convo you had and why you want to keep in touch. 5. Enjoy it! 😎 It's going to be a long day... many sessions, thousands of people, a few drinks in the Fox and on to the afterparties - wear comfy shoes and embrace the day! There's HUGE opportunity out there in the Salesforce ecosystem at the moment, you just have to know where to look ⬇ It's no secret that the last 12 months has been one of the most challenging when it comes to identifying new opportunities. But, off the back of some really interesting conversations last week, it's clear that there is ABSOLUTELY still plenty of appetite for specialist Salesforce talent. Speaking with a variety of leaders across both Partners & End-Users in the UK & US, here's a few key talking points: ➡ Reduced spend from Customers on Salesforce partners due to macroeconomic data has impacted revenue, which could result in some layoffs over the course of 2024. ➡ Due to lack of resource capability & depth for SOME Salesforce partners, and poor management of expectations, they have under-delivered for their customers. As a result, there has been a huge push from Customers to understand the depth of resources a Partner has BEFORE signing off on their partnership together. ➡ As a result, we have seen a big push from customers to enhance their internal CoE's, and scale their internal Salesforce capabilities, rather than relying on external SIs. This certainly presents some exciting new opportunities: ➡ Due to competitor's underperformance, specialist Salesforce partners can further grow their client portfolio by identifying these pain points, optimizing their service offering for their given verticals, and ensuring that their process is perfectly aligned to their target clients, allowing them to deliver true value. ➡ Specialist Salesforce partners can further establish themselves as the leader in their given vertical by identifying the BEST specialist talent in the ecosystem, and ensuring they have the resource capability to deliver these roadmaps. ➡ It also means that customers can increase their internal Salesforce capabilities and create an ecosystem-leading CoE, reducing their spend on SI Partners and maximising their ROI from the platform, whilst making sure they have the capability to continuously scale. When the 'Salesforce expert' gets the blame for everything... 🤣 As a Salesforce recruiter, I've heard all too often that 'it's the system's fault', 'speak to the Salesforce guy about the problem' or 'the Sales team don't like the CRM' 😅 Expecting trailblazers to wave a magic wand, yet usually the issues lie within lack of adoption, rubbish data, not bothering with use cases, not enough focus on user experience or no leadership buy in from the outset 🤔 Yes, Salesforce is more dynamic and can do more than any other CRM Yes, I'm biased... Yes, spending a tonne of £££ on a shiny new CRM will be a waste of money if you don't have the right people in place to deliver it. No, the appointed Salesforce expert cannot work miracles.
