Salesforce World Tour London report: The Salesforce platform has been central to our recent digital improvements, so it was important for some of the St Albans City & District Council transformation team to go to the Salesforce World Tour today to see what’s new. Answer: a lot, not least a very slick demo of how Aston Martin use Salesforce to promote and personalise their cars for individuals https://lnkd.in/eGikr-kX. The scale of the event is quite dizzying, and while we went to a lot of stuff we couldn't do it all. AI was of course central, with the message being that you can trust our version (subtext: not to swear at your residents, or repackage their personal data for other customers). We heard a really good presentation from Eastleigh (James Battle) and North Lincolnshire Councils about how they had used Salesforce to bring their various data sources together to enhance services and reduce the number of different systems they have. There were lots of goodies here that we could use for better services for our residents and businesses, depending on the affordability and value for money for a district council like ours. Well done to our team Billy Senior Monique F. Harry Graham and Charlotte Aspinall for all the hard work, and also for the obligatory pose with the crazy Salesforce-type creatures.

But how does the EA landscape compare between the UK and international markets? I’ve been having some rather weighty conversations with my network recently, and would like to share some of our highlights with you. 𝘋𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨? 🏛️ 𝗨𝗞 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 🏛️ We’re seeing an increasing emphasis on 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 (about time). Organisations are prioritising 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 to align technology with broader business objectives. With the rise of 𝗔𝗜, 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, and 𝗰𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, EA in the UK is focusing on regulatory compliance and optimising cloud ecosystems to enhance resilience and scalability. 🏛️ 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 🏛️ We’re observing a strong move towards decentralised decision making and the integration of 𝗔𝗜-𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 across industries. EA practices in the US and parts of Europe are more frequently adopting 𝗔𝗜 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 to speed up processes, with a focus on 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗜 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. . . Also a noticeable drive toward digital sovereignty and sustainability frameworks in regions like Europe and APAC. ⬅️ 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 ➡️ 𝗨𝗞 - A regulatory first approach, heavily influenced by financial services and public sector needs. 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 - A broader push for AI innovation, sustainability, and digital sovereignty in regions with emerging tech hubs. 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗗𝗢 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗞? 1. HMRC: Hyperscale PaaS for Hyperscale Performance. HMRC offers an exemplar blueprint for a Platform Architecture, and how it can enable rapid digital service innovation at hyperscale levels. HMRC's Multi-channel Digital Tax Platform (MDTP) employs Continuous Delivery at scale, operating a cloud platform for over 130 user-facing applications powered by over 1000 microservices. The platform delivered financial support to more than 12 million employed and self-employed workers during the pandemic, processing 67,000 job claims within half an hour and handling 440,000 applications for government grants on the first day of its operation. We keep hearing that the UK economy is facing a challenging landscape in 2024. With inflation rates hovering around 6% and a sluggish GDP growth of just 1.2% (ONS, 2024), businesses are feeling the pinch. This economic pressure is significantly impacting the IT employment market, creating challenges and opportunities for professionals and employers alike. As I said in my video, companies are becoming more cautious with their hiring strategies. However, it's not all doom and gloom! :-) The demand for IT professionals remains robust, particularly in areas such as cybersecurity, cloud engineering, data analysis, and AI development. These fields are seeing a surge in job openings as companies invest in digital transformation to stay competitive. Interestingly, the North of England is emerging as a new tech hotspot, with cities like Manchester and Leeds experiencing a 15% growth in tech job postings (Indeed, 2024). I am seeing companies changing their hiring plans so I envisage more vacancies and opportunities tail end of this year and early next ✅
