Streamlining Topology Optimization Results I showcased at CDFAM - Computational Design Symposium earlier this year. Here is an example. Topology optimization is great… until you need a model that actually works or is manufacturable. We’ve all been there, spending hours reconstructing the wild shapes it spits out in CAD. With Cognitive Design, I've found a way to automate this process. Using basic inputs like functional regions, design space, and a feature called “Wrapping Strength” (a way to connect disconnected regions within boundaries), it’s possible to go from concept to workable model in seconds. Rotating objects within a 3D space and having each of those elements counter rotate, so they constantly face forwards, produces a fun 2.5D effect that we love to play with on projects. I’ll be the first to admit that our tutorials on interior mapping (DJI Avata, cell phones, 360 cameras) aren’t the best. In fact, when we had our private beta, we told testers to record videos indoors and see how the 3D models turned out. Our initial tests showed that SkyeBrowse’s patented videogrammetry allowed us to do what traditional photogrammetry could not do: rapidly map out interior spaces with very little training required. Because we use every single frame of the video, we were able to get so much more data from a video, as opposed to 500 pictures from photogrammetry (imagine how long that would take with a DJI Avata during a SWAT callout). We knew Interior Mapping was our lightning in a bottle. No one else was able to generate rapid interior 3D models with drone, phone, and 360 camera videos. However, since the release of Interior Mapping 3 months ago, we’ve seen a spike in end user complaints about the quality of our interior maps. Over the past 3 months, we’ve been rapidly updating our Interior Mapping to accommodate all sorts of capture paths and cameras. Every week, interior mapping has been getting progressively better, even if we did not make an announcement. I’m excited to present the culmination of our past 3 month’s work with the latest Interior Mapping update! What is a 3D Video? Instead of multiple 2D frames stacked together, now its 3D models stacked together to form 3D Videos. This video showcases we showcase side by side the stable 3D gaussian spalts and noise free rendering results. The best part is that each 3D frame is efficiently compressed into just 1 MB. This is similar to game mesh optimisation, to be rendered efficently without stressing the rendering hardware too much. This can even be used in VR! I was recently featured in Nash Squared's documentary, "AI and Robotics: A Near Future You’re Not Prepared For," by David Savage. There's a lot of fear about robots taking jobs, but I think we're looking at it the wrong way. At Bioliberty, we see robotics as tools to help us be more productive, not replace us. Just like AI, robotics can extend what we can do, especially in physical rehab. Our tech helps therapists provide more intense and frequent rehab, giving more people the chance to recover fully. Data backs this up too. Nash Squared's survey shows only 1% of tech jobs are at risk of being replaced soon. SuperCraft (YC S23) has a strong and growing user base of designers from the CPG space, who regularly make use of the wealth of royalty free 3D models on the internet to design products such as perfume bottles, cosmetics, energy drinks, spray cans, cleaning supplies... to name a few (heck, its so much that it wouldn't be a totally dumb idea to verticalize SuperCraft on CPG 🤔 ) Its one of the use cases where the same 3D mesh gets used to design multiple products. I am sure this happens in other industries too and as a young startup, I want to discover more of these use cases.
