The proposal to 'retire' the Career Development Professional 6 apprenticeship Update There is a meeting on Thursday 2nd May PM with Sally Timmins from IfATE to discuss the proposal and to provide evidence as to why this apprenticeship is important and needs to continue. Representatives from training providers, the CDI and Careers England will attend and one of the recommendations will be that the Standard be reviewed instead of retired. We shall keep you informed and please feel free to raise your own concerns and share with other professionals across the sector. Paragraph 82: updates relating to inspection scope. Paragraphs 216 to 217: updates relating to the inspection of apprenticeships and adult learning programmes. Paragraphs 245 and 252 to 253: clarifications relating to the inspection of behaviour and attitudes. Paragraphs 257 to 261: clarifications relating to the inspection of personal development. Still no attempt to sort out the confusion of all the different inspection timescales in the footnotes - one would have thought this would be the ideal opportunity just to do that.

Great news from UCAS. Level 3 apprenticeships are to be recognised with UCAS points, demonstrating to learners and universities the value of the work completed. This means that their is career progression opportunity through higher education that might otherwise have not been apparent or even available. So, a young person completes an apprenticeship, in a skilled trade, with successful completion and experience gained in work, opportunities to return to study for progression for example into business development or business management.
