    Economic Empowerment

There are some amazing businesses and organisations, small and large, start-up and established on our doorstep in the Forest of Dean which can provide exciting employment opportunities to local people. We have an awareness issue though. Young people and adults cannot apply for these roles or be attracted to these roles if they do not know they exist. We are aiming to change that in a contemporary and different way.

We have an awareness issue though. Young people and adults cannot apply for these roles or be attracted to these roles if they do not know they exist. We are aiming to change that in a contemporary and different way.
    Objectives of Inspiring The Forest
    1. Raising aspirations amongst the young, parents, teachers and everyone
    2. Raising awareness of the businesses
    3. Increasing awareness of the types of jobs available
    4. Increasing awareness of the skills required for jobs locally at all levels from apprentices to managers.
    5. Creating closer links between schools/colleges/universities and business organisationally and personally.
    6. Reducing youth disaffection by applying the 4 business touch principles within mainstream education. (Those who have meet business 4 times in school career are 80+% more likely to continue in rewarding training/work career)
    7. Reducing difficulties around arranging work experience and other business-school engagements required by best practice. And going beyond the minimum required by bodies such as Ofsted

We had 2 Inspiring The Forest Careers events in November 2022 and June 2023 with around 1000 year 8s and 9s at each event. My role included getting the schools onboard, briefing local branding and marketing agencies, redefining the job roles and names, ensuring diversity and inclusion in messaging and PR, guiding groups of young people around the event

Q: Where Do You Find Your Future Talent? A: On your doorstep!
