This picture which represents survivorship bias will forever live in my head rent free. It's often my go to food for thought point which focuses on never being satisfied with a Customers current clean environment state, with a focus on thinking of new and innovative ways towards identifying assets which have fallen through the CSOC visibility cracks. Establishing visibility and protection of previously forgotten assets can have immediate and future threat detection and prevention outcomes.

MY WEEKLY WRAP #15 - Back to positivity Word of the week - progress SUMMARY: ✅ We had 5 sales meetings this week for managed services and we also had 3 meetings for ISO 27001. Both services attract different types of customers which is interesting and refreshing. ✅ The folks ar Clevero wowed us, thanks Lez Yeoh. ✅ Attended Deep Tech Melbourne and while I had to leave early, super interesting world out there! TRYING/FAILS/LEARNING: 🔥I failed at financial forecasting correctly and due to a lost contract, I’ve had to make changes around how we spend money. Never nice remembering your own business mortality. 🔥I am learning that my sales style to educate then sell, is actually a good method. After a few ghosts and lost deals it was hard to see that. 🔥 We are moving our ticketing to Intercom to make our customer service more than two dimensional (phone and email) and instead 5 dimensional (Teams, Slack, WhatsApp, and chat bot). 🔥 Failed to get this post up on time! THOUGHTS: 🧠 having a friend help you start a business is pretty good, unless they don’t pay their bills, then it’s just slowing your business down. Purpose: I'm sharing these weekly updates to allow people to participate and share in KAVIRA IT's journey from start-up to full-service IT and cybersecurity firm protecting and empowering SMBs. Marrying my current life (cybersecurity - secured data erasure) with the previous (circular IT - ITAD), it is important to select a reputable ITAD partner using robust erasure software that follows globally-recognized erasure methods. Certus Software goes one step ahead - beyond just erasure - by having a Verification Tool built into it. Once erasure is complete, the Tool does a random check of the disk sectors. The method you used writes 0s to all sectors? Or writes random hexadecimal numbers to those sectors? Run the Verification Tool to confirm that data on those sectors are truly 0s or hexadecimal numbers, with CONFIDENCE.

Unfortunately I will not be attending #RSAC this year as originally planned... However, the reason I won't be attending RSA Conference is because I'm boomeranging 🪃🪃🪃 back to #Microsoft! It's been a hell of a year, with the better part of the last 12 months being unemployed, experiencing a layoff, learning some hard lessons in different people's communication and management styles, and learning ways to better advocate for my own communication needs as an #AuDHDer. BUT it's been a great opportunity for deep thinking, self care, skill building, family time, projects, dreaming, planning, and self-advocacy. ✅️ I finally have a steady supply of ADHD meds from the VA and am getting my service-connected health concerns addressed 🏥 ✅️ I've drafted my business proposal and operating agreement for my small business idea and gotten buy-in from supporters and investors 💰 ✅️ I've lost 12 lbs and gained a ton of muscle 💪🏽🏋🏻‍♀️ ✅️ I've built shelves, lots and lots of shelves 🛠 ✅️ I've started studying for my CISSP and received support from Onward 2 Opportunity to take the exam 🔐 ✅️ I've registered for an entrepreneurial conference for veterans starting small businesses 👩🏻‍💼 ✅️ I've been getting rid of so much stuff I've been holding on to "because I might use it someday" to create more space and decrease clutter 🔌💾⌨️🖱🖥📒 ✅️ I've organized, scanned, shredded, donated and thrown away countless documents, doodads, and doo-hickeys 📃 ✅️ I've planted over 500 trees 🌳! ✅️ I've mentored multiple veterans and women 🫡👩🏻 But above all... I've filled my heart with so much love and joy that my cup has been overflowing. In spite of the pain, trauma, fear, and anxiety... I've chosen to be more determined, to believe that all of the good I've put out into the world will come back to me (and it has! in spades!), and to continue to make progress on my goals, no matter the roadblocks that temporarily bar my initial path. I am very fortunate and I realize this. A lot of people have struggled over the last few years with unemployment. I struggled to find employment, much less the right fit of employment, yet I still had a much easier time than many. CrowdStrike ...the key questions 1. Why was the update issued on Friday ... one of the busiest days of the year in all client areas? 2. Was the update tested in a 'sandbox' type environment before release? If not why not? If so how did it pass? Useful to listen to the Crowdstrike CEO on this one! 3. Why did MS allow it...did they test it independently? If not why not? If so why was it signed off? 4. Why did MS clients just allow it...this is contrary to.proper practice? 5. Although this does not appear to be an act of cyberwarfare...were any other events e.g. short selling of related parties/major client stock noted? These few questions clearly open a Pandora's box, but emphasise once again the importance of the University of Buckingham's Mixed Reality Leadership Model and book on 'The Invisible Apocalypse' See previous posts. Additionally all insurers and insured alike need to check the wording of their cybersecurity contracts. It has been a while since as I've posted, as I've been busy on my new challenge down in Bristol at OnSecurity! It has been a steep learning curve, so I thought I'd share 5 things I didn’t know about the cybersecurity industry before joining four months ago… 1. The importance of pentesting. Pentesting protects everything that is important to a business, including sensitive information about clients and customers, payment methods, etc. Without a secure attack surface, companies could potentially lose everything. 2. How- often- businesses don’t even realise they need pentesting. It can be seen as something that is not as important as development. But you’d like to know if a ship floats before loading it with 1000 passengers, right? 3. Different businesses will have different pentesting needs. Every business is unique. They all have different requirements. The importance is about devising the best pentest procedure to strengthen their security posture. 4. The number of regulatory eyes on penetration testing.  Using CREST-accredited testers ensures our clients that we use the highest legal, ethical and technical standards, operating to ensure our clients get an accurate and complete service. 5. How interesting it really is! It is an ethical hacking practice, how is that not something you want to learn more about? It’s a bit terrifying too, to see what people with bad intentions can do to businesses without the proper security measures in place.
