A significant part of the 4th year of my university programme is a four-person group project. For our project, we had the opportunity to research, design and construct a remotely controlled hovercraft with a degree of autonomous functionality.

The project encompassed various aspects of engineering, including electronic, mechanical and software. I was primarily responsible for software relating to the user interface and autonomy, in addition to project management.

Awarded in recognition of outstanding engineering research for my PhD work on enabling pro-active robotic assistance during activities of daily living.

  • Deputy Principal’s Award

    Heriot-Watt University

Awarded to students who achieve an 'A' grade in six or more modules during an academic year.

  • IET Prize 2018

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and Heriot-Watt University

The IET Prize is awarded annually to outstanding students who are completing a course of study which has been accredited by the IET. Prize winners are nominated by their university based on having shown distinction in their course leading to the award of a first degree. I was selected by the Board of Examiners to be the University's recipient of the award for 2018.

  • Agilent Technologies Prize

Dept. of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering, Heriot-Watt University

Awarded to the student with the best overall performance in the third year of a programme in the department.

  • Lockheed Martin / Santander Prize for Computer Science

    Heriot-Watt University

In my third year at university I participated in a software engineering group project, in which our group developed a career-tracking website. We were awarded first place after presenting our product to the sponsors: Lockheed Martin and Santander.
