In Q2 of this year in the UK the average Perm Consultant made 4 placements and the average Temp Consultant made 6 placements. (UK) When we looked at the consultants at the Top 5 agencies on Recruiter Insider for Candidate Experience, we discovered that: 🚀 the average Perm Consultant there made 5 placements 🚀 the average Temp Consultant made 10 placements. In Q2 alone, the agencies with the highest candidate experience scores made 1 extra Perm placement per consultant and an 4 extra temp placements per consultant. Highlighting as always the impact candidate experience has on your placement numbers. The data doesn’t lie, an improved candidate experience means more placements. Here is a list of the key reasons I’ve heard from agencies over the last 8 years that I actually agree with as to why measuring the candidate experience isn’t a priority for them right now. There isnt one! Not a single one. Candidates deserve the best service you can give and if you aren’t measuring it you can’t improve it. No one is perfect but we can all improve.

⛔ The recruitment system is broken. ⛔ Just had a look at the number of applicants we have received over the last 5 days at Cognify Search... 962!! This week we have submitted over 30 data candidates to our clients. Only one of these candidates have come from our adverts (admittedly we sill have around 1/3 to review).. ⛔ Easy apply is creating too much noise! ⛔ Much of the noise comes from candidates who have very few of the skills required ⛔ Most are not based in the UK ⛔ Many companies only accept candidates who are British Citizen, have ILR or Settled status. ⛔ There is a disconnect between candidates and hiring companies in terms of remote and hybrid working. ⛔ Data is becoming more silo'd, companies are looking for a specialist within a specialist.

If you're experiencing issues such as delays, poor-quality candidates, or lack of communication, there are a few steps you can take: Clarify Expectations: Have a detailed discussion with the agency about what you're looking for in terms of candidate quality, timelines, and communication. Sometimes misalignment of expectations is a major contributor to poor results. Assess the Agencies' Track Record: If you've been using agencies for a while without satisfactory results, it may be worth considering if the agencies have a good track record in your industry or hiring needs. Provide Constructive Feedback: Share specific feedback about what isn’t working—whether it’s the quality of candidates, speed of delivery, or understanding of your company’s needs. A good agency will appreciate this feedback and work to improve. Consider Alternatives: If the current agencies are consistently under-delivering, it may be time to explore other recruitment options. Some agencies specialise in different sectors or have more robust networks, and that could better align with your needs. Are you facing challenges with a particular agency or type of recruitment? If automating recruitment workflows is so important, why don’t all CRMs offer standard recruitment automations? It’s a good question. If you manage your database, you might have asked this yourself. There’s clearly a need for automation in recruitment. But other than charging for an additional product. There’s a reason why companies like Bullhorn give users so much flexibility. Each agency is unique: - Its processes and workflows - The language it uses - How it engages with its community You want to automate YOUR process. Custom and bespoke automation are critical to maintaining and enhancing your brand. You differentiate yourself from your competitors. Your recruitment process feels like yours. Not some other agencies. You can learn how other businesses do things. But if you want to set yourself apart. And not be like everyone else. I see you 👀 Noticing more and more recruiters being “open to work” in a particular market (let’s use GTM as an example) that only seem to be using it as a ploy to get some potential new client info on who’s hiring in their market… Come on lads and lasses, we can do better than that. Yes times are tougher than usual but it’s a big wide world out there full of opportunities. Why not put some effort into engaging potential new businesses directly with an awesome cold call, or we’ll put together personalised (and bloody relevant) email as part of a sequence including video and voicenotes.
