These particular slides are quite vain, as they are an introduction to my work.
However, there were great questions from students after the talk, an interactive discussion, and various exercises on problem solving skills; interview strategy; and application writing.

Careers in Physics were the topic of the day at our career insight event hosted by the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington, Middlesex. Students were exposed to role models as soon as they walked in the lobby with pictures of many famous scientists who have worked at NPL, including Alan Turing.

Inspired by these famous faces, the students had the chance to meet a selection of physicists including Robin Ravi, Helen Jones, and Jessica Wade, as well as Becky and Perdi from the current NPL apprentice programme. Becky explained how she was using her apprenticeship as a chance to gain valuable work experience working directly for NPL’s top scientists before studying physics at university. Jessica has written her own blog post about the day too, which you can read here.
