Review Team Member, Cabinet Office - Skills and Leadership Review
-
In October 2012 I was invited to join a Cabinet Office review.
The Marsh Review - led by Dame Mary Marsh, will examine how effectively existing support is meeting the requirements of the sector.
The review will look at how businesses and professionals can share their expertise with charities and social enterprises, and recommend ways in which the sector can make a dynamic push to upgrade and maintain its skills to meet the challenges of the future.

The review team includes various sector experts and follows the recent Cabinet Office publication of a paper outlining progress in making it easier to set-up and run charities and social enterprises. This includes efforts to enhance skills and capability within the sector; to improve access to resources, volunteers and support networks; and to simplify regulation and to cut red tape.

Through its ideas, research and 27,000-strong Fellowship it seeks to understand and enhance human capability so we can close the gap between today’s reality and people’s hopes for a better world. The Fellowship Council is a representative forum for Fellows of the RSA, with the core aim of promoting more effective working relationships between all aspects of the RSA, and specifically ensuring that the Fellowship’s voice is heard by the Trustee Board and by RSA staff. Over and above my duties as a Fellowship Councillor, I have also been invited to join the working group for the 'Catalyst Programme' which provides financial awards and other forms of [non-financial] support to Social Entrepreneurs.
