I see what this article is getting at and how this has become a sad reality in the recent past. We have clear concepts and buzzwords, lack basic domain knowledge and end up as people who speak but dont add value to the project/product teams.

New Scrum Masters- wondering how you are going to compete in the market against those with more experience? Face reality. The demand for Scrum Masters is slowing down if not shrinking. But more and more people are entering the market. You need to break out of the Scrum box by adding a model of understanding to Scrum. Along with the objectives and why of Scrum's practices. This can have you leapfrog those with more experience as well as have a wider range than just being a Scrum Master. Scrum relies on empiricism, inspect&adapt, and running experiments. It is constrained to these approaches because it has not embraced a model of understanding. It locks people into solutions, instead of looking to see what works better in their situation. It takes years of experience to know what to do if that’s all you have. While you can break out of this chokehold, it often doesn’t happen. Consider the following: "We do not think and talk about what we see; we see what we are able to think and talk about" Edgar Schein    “Experience teaches nothing. In fact, there is no experience to record without theory... Without theory there is no learning... And that is their downfall. People copy examples and then wonder what is the trouble. They look at examples and without theory they learn nothing.” Edwards Deming "He who loves practice without theory is like the sailor who boards ship without a rudder and compass and never knows where he may be cast.” da Vinci "There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.” Will Rogers I have been doing Scrum for over 20 years. Most teams have the same problems because Scrum is purposefully incomplete and doesn’t provide a way of determining what works best for a team. In fact, it discourages this by being immutable. The fact that there aren’t best practices universally doesn’t mean there aren’t best practices for a team’s current situation. I call this the best contextual practice-thanks Mark Jørgensen Chaudhry You can use theory to tell which practices will be better, more quickly than with experience alone. This'll make you more capable than those following the standard Scrum training based on empiricism. And you don't have to run experiments- which makes you better It does require about 3 hours a week for six months. At a cost of $995. This is live training, led by me Here’s what you need to learn: - systems thinking - first principles of knowledge work - the 30 patterns that are needed at the team level - how to tell which practice will work best in a particular situation - how to convey ideas to people and avoid evoking resistance in people  and a fair amount more. You can learn all of this in the Amplio Consultant Educators program. It includes the equivalent of several Agile workshops but can focus on making you a great Scrum Master faster than those with just experience. Message me if interested

If you think that Scrum is all about the 3 questions, post-it notes, story points, burndown charts and user stories then you've fundamentally misunderstood what Scrum is all about. Scrum is designed to help you find out what works for your team and your organisation. If any of the above works for you, fantastic keeping doing it! If not, experiment and find something that does. That's it.
