This incorporated physical activities such as abseiling, gorge walking, a high ropes course, rock climbing, 'tombstoning', canoeing expeditions, climbing expeditions in the Scottish highlands and camping 24 hours on your own with very limited equipment and no form of contact with anyone. The course also taught adaptability, as you were in a team of 12 international students, having to overcome language and cultural differences. It taught leadership skills, teamwork and boosted confidence.

The coveted badge was awarded only to those who stood out in showing high spirit and determination, with outstanding teamwork and leadership skills.

  • Ten Tors Medal

    Ten Tors

I was chosen to be the navigator for the Plymstock School Ten Tors Team in 2010. We travelled 45 miles over two days, crossing tough terrain, crossing rivers, camping and cooking meals. We had to carry all pour equipment. I was responsible choosing and leading the team of 6 in the most time-efficient and safest route, using a compass and map. We had to climb a mixture of Ten tors accross 45 miles in order to complete the event.

  • John Muir Award

    John Muir Charity, Scotland

I achieved this award in recognition of my help in conserving the environment. I worked on creating a waterways system that helped protect the roots of protected Scottish trees and plants.
