⛔ The recruitment system is broken. ⛔ Just had a look at the number of applicants we have received over the last 5 days at Cognify Search... 962!! This week we have submitted over 30 data candidates to our clients. Only one of these candidates have come from our adverts (admittedly we sill have around 1/3 to review).. ⛔ Easy apply is creating too much noise! ⛔ Much of the noise comes from candidates who have very few of the skills required ⛔ Most are not based in the UK ⛔ Many companies only accept candidates who are British Citizen, have ILR or Settled status. ⛔ There is a disconnect between candidates and hiring companies in terms of remote and hybrid working. ⛔ Data is becoming more silo'd, companies are looking for a specialist within a specialist.

The dirtiest word in business... 🤫 👇 SALES But why? There's an age-old stigma about salespeople. They're the ones who knock on your door, cold call you at the most inappropriate moment, and bombard you with messages until you finally hand over the money. But all sales really is, is a service. Realistic Timeframe for Onboarding - FREE ADVICE! For a permanent position, here's what SHOULD happen: Instruction Week 1 - Shortlist of candidates provided Week 2 - First round of interviews Week 3 - Second round of interviews Final round of interviews Week 4 - Offer Keep in mind, if the selected candidate is currently employed full-time, they may have a notice period of 1 to 3 months. Therefore, if your goal is to hire within the next 3 to 4 months, it's best to start the process now! In a World that is leaning far more heavily on full time / permanent hires, Companies / Recruiting Managers need to take this advice on board. Do you need to have SDR experience to be a successful SDR? In my opinion, no. If hiring managers are just looking for existing SDR’s then a lot of talent is being missed. Call centre jobs, door-to-door sales…recruitment 😅 There are many roles out there that build resilience, grit and get people used to being told no… or worse, which is vital. Don’t get me wrong, hiring someone with SDR experience would be ideal and make them very likely to succeed. But, you might be hiring someone who wants to progress quicker than you like. If they’ve been an SDR for a year already, will they want to start from scratch and do another 12 months? They may be a bit more expensive and might even need as much training as someone with no SDR experience if they’re used to doing things a different way! There’s a lot of talent out there, don’t fish from a small pool 🎣 #recruitment #sdr #creativenatives

Tuesday reminder: Losing a deal/ client doesn't make you bad at your job. ✌ The best salespeople are shaped by the tough times 🏋️‍♀️ Dropouts will happen, prospects will disappear off the face of the earth (until they want something from you 4 months later 👀), and people will let you down. It sucks, but that's life.....that's sales 🤷‍♀️ Working in recruitment has taught me the power of resilience and not to take things that aren't personal personally 🤍 There's always going to be something negative around the corner, it's how you pick yourself up from it that makes the most positive lasting impression on your career trajectory 🙌🙌 #wemove #recrutierlife

If you’re looking to get into tech sales then you’re one of A LOT. It’s competitive. So you need a plan. I’d start by understanding what the interview process looks like. Then optimising yourself to get through each stage. Starting point = your CV And specifically making a sales CV. The point of your CV is to get you noticed. Then get you through to the next stage. You want your CV to scream “I’M WORTH SPEAKING TO” Think of your audience. What do a talent acquisition manager, a sales team leader, a sales manager all have in common? They spend 8-13 seconds looking at a CV. They glance quickly at first. So make your CV IMPACTFUL. Keep it CONCISE. Make it EASY TO READ. Contents: - Name - About me - Education - Experience - Other activities Bullet points are your friend here. Highlight things that you have done that are relevant to a sales role. What impact have you had on revenue? Can you talk about a time you reflected and improved your own performance? Be objective. Use metrics to show your achievements. Numbers stand out and demonstrate your impact. Writing a good CV will get you call backs. Everytime. #salesCV #salesjobsearch #jobhunt #CVwriting

'I took this role purely based on the OTE, 9 months in I haven’t even got even close to it…' 🙈🙈🙈 Hearing lines like this so often at the moment. The market is tough with hesitation from buyers to spend 📉 Candidates, make sure you're doing everything you can to qualify OTE's and don't get blinded the large number. Make sure your qualifying throughout the process... -What’s the average deal size? 📊 -What’s % percentage do I get paid on?💰 -The top performers quota vs achievement for the last 2 years?🗓️ -Do I come into any existing pipeline? 🧗‍♀️ -How long is the ramp period? 📈 -How did your newest Reps perform in year 1?🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Implement this in your search to ensure you’re accepting a package that is actually achievable rather than a misleading double OTE... Let’s say you have a core problem of acquiring clients, so you look to hire your first salesperson You find a top BDM who wants 3k more than budgeted for on their salary You then spend the next 2 months making the decision on whether to go for it or not You’ve now lost 𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗟𝗬 more than that 3k due to lack of new business growth in that period You've lost 2 months of trying a different solution if the answer was "No" to the hire And probably worst of all - you’ve lost 2 months of knowledge (that compounds) Be better. Why I think Only Fans Stars are the best Sales people ... ❌ They use a multi-channel approach, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok to generate new subscribers ➕ The best sales people use LinkedIn, Cold Calling, Email and Face to Face Networking to generate new business ❌ They provide a bespoke service in the 1-1 chats and custom work they produce ➕ Sales people tailor their outreach and ensure everything is personalised to their prospects ❌ Only Fans are known to collab with similar stars to 'network' ➕ All good Sales people know that 'your network is your net worth' so collaborating together increases your awareness of the market and opportunities available ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- However one thing that is definitely true; there is always less regret generating a qualified appointment than when you purchase an OF monthly subscription at 11pm on a Tuesday.. #sales #telemarketing #b2bsales

It’s lazy, generic and likely to set you up for failure. Let me explain…….. If you are serious about breaking into tech sales I would really think about these three factors to give you clarity and the competitive edge 💪🏻 1) What kind of tech do I want to be selling- physical product, saas, big tech 🧐 2)What industries do I want to sell to…. Ideally based on passion or prior industry experience ⚽️ 📺 🍱 3) What personas do I want to to sell to… Sales, HR, Finance 📞 👨‍⚕️ This will really help you focus on the right roles and really impress when you are in front of the right businesses.

Are we seeing some positive signs in the Marketing agency scene in the North West? I think so, and I believe it starts with PR and having seen a lot more activity in recent weeks in the market, I believe we may be in for a brighter future than recent times! These are my opinions, but having recruited for over ten years in this space, I would argue that the PR market is a good indicator/trend spot of a brighter future for all A buoyant PR agency market often signals a positive outlook for other marketing disciplines. Here’s why: 1. Economic Indicator: PR is one of the first marketing activities to be adjusted based on economic conditions. When businesses are confident in the economy, they invest more in PR to enhance their visibility and reputation. A thriving PR market, therefore, indicates business confidence and a robust economic environment. 2. Budget Allocations: Companies with increased PR budgets are likely to allocate more resources to other marketing channels. This holistic approach ensures a comprehensive marketing strategy, benefiting advertising, digital marketing, content creation, and other disciplines. 3. Brand Awareness and Engagement: Effective PR builds strong brand awareness and engagement. As brands become more prominent and their stories are well-received, other marketing channels can leverage this momentum. For instance, advertising campaigns can achieve better results when they follow successful PR initiatives. 4. B2B sales = where the progression and reward is as a salesperson If you’re serious about your sales career then you’ll need this experience. Particularly if you want to break into tech sales. If you have any cold outreach, prospecting or outbound calling on your CV from a B2B environment then use it. That’s transferable. And if you don’t, then it might be worth considering other B2B sales roles as a stepping stone. Sometimes it’s better to earn and learn. Rather than wait for the perfect opportunity. #salesjobs #jobhunting #salescareer
