As expected, growth and investment is the underlying message behind the UK Government’s Autumn Budget. When we talk about economic growth, we cannot leave technology out of the equation. We are at an interesting point in time for the UK, where business leaders recognise the great potential of technology as a growth driver leading to impactful business transformation.     AI is, and will increasingly be, one of the biggest technological drivers behind economic growth in the UK. In fact, recent research from ServiceNow, has found that while in the UK, AI-powered business transformation is in its early days, British businesses are among Europe’s leaders when it comes to AI optimism and maturity, with 85% of those planning to increase investment in AI in the next year. It is clear that appetite for AI continues to grow- from manufacturing to healthcare, and education. Furthermore, with the government setting a 2% productivity savings target for government departments, AI has the potential to play a significant role here, not only by boosting productivity, but also driving innovation, reducing operational costs, as well as creating new job opportunities.     To remain competitive as a country, we must not forget to also invest in education, upskilling initiatives, and partnerships between the public and private sectors, fostering AI innovation to drive transformative change for all. https://lnkd.in/dgTqGKqW #AI #UKBudget

UK retail sales saw a positive uptick in July, reversing a previous decline, thanks to summer discounts and major sporting events. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), retail sales volumes increased by 0.5% in July, slightly below economists' forecasts of 0.6% growth. #UKRetail #SalesData #EconomicTrends

Whether you’re selling B2B or B2C, determining how well your eCommerce solution has been built is a vitally important step to running a long-term successful online sales channel.   At OSE we work different customers across a variety of industries who generally fit into three customer groups when it comes to their solution quality. These being:   1. Process Oriented   These customers have well-built sites and enjoy the freedom of being able to further invest in their customer experience and operational efficiencies. Rather than constantly spending time and money fixing bugs, this customer group uses well-designed processes to scale their business. These customers have historically taken the time to carefully plan project goals, and work with a capable agency to correctly brief in projects that increase the likelihood of quality execution.   2. Plateaued / Zero Growth   It’s completely reasonable to come across customers who have been given poor advice. Usually not intentionally, rather through a lack of expertise and platform knowledge. This customer type is strangely lucky in one way however, in that they’ll usually have a solution not costing much, but at the same time not driving any growth.   3. Shipwrecks   These customers may have spent a little, they may have spent a lot, however in all instances, the solution they've designed is very expensive to maintain and lacks the ability to be scaled. This is usually due to poor implementation practices, damaging the merchant’s ability to market across multiple digital channels. Constant bug fixing will indefinitely delay this customer group from truly changing their commerce fortunes.   Summary   So, if you’re looking to deliver a successful eCommerce solution, the good news is there’s no reason why you can’t sell significantly more than you have with the right team and thorough planning. We’ve seen customers decrease their support spend by 300% as a result of a detailed scope of works and best-practice implementation. Remember the initial cost of delivery is never the way to evaluate how much your eCommerce site might cost you, it’s through a combination of how well you plan, partner and execute your solution. ...and oh yeah. By our estimate, a poorly built eCommerce site can cost you at least 5X to 10X what you originally spent in lost review and bug fixing. Ouch! #eCommerce #adobeCommerce #shopify #bigCommerce

I've just started Martin Sadler's book "Aspirationally Idle"... A title I very much relate too. Martin wrote this from the perspective of a CIO and from a supplier perspective its great to get insight to what a CIO is juggling at any one time.
