Last week, King Charles introduced a pivotal bill for the Tech sector at the opening of the UK Parliament: 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥. This bill aims to help strengthen the UK's cyber defences and ensure that critical infrastructure and the digital services that companies rely on are secure. Our CEO Rajiv Datta spoke at ISPA UK’s Business Summit alongside Andrew Kernahan, Ana Baide, Richard Allwood, Tim Creswick and Wil Wadsworth on the evolution of the fibre market. UK connectivity is at a crossroads. Interesting numbers published by the INCA - Independent Networks Co-operative Association showing that altnet providers passed 12.9 million premises with fibre, compared to the 12.8 passed by Openreach by the end of 2023. From an altnet perspective there is still plenty of work to do with penetration, which sees them connect half that of Openreach, but it is refreshing to see altnets taking on the incumbents.
